As-Salmu aliakum:

I have recently recieved a email that contained an article titled "The
Holy Quran in Your DNA Coding" by Sameer Chouwadhary. The article is
supposed to have come from a publication known as Islam & Science. This
article states that a geneticist in New Mexico working at GenLab wich is
located at the University of New Mexico has found that the Quran is coded
into the human DNA in the same fashion as protiens are except that both
intron, "junk DNA", and exons, protein coding DNA, are used to code for
the Quran. The article claims that 10% of the Quran has been sequenced in
the DNA starting with the first ayaat the first ayaat revealed to Prophet
Mohammad(SAWS). However, since reading this email I have been search of
finding a way of contacting the author of the article, the publication,
and or the geneticist himself (Dr. Ahmad Khan). Unfortunately, I have
been unable to find any of these. I have only found articles related to
an embryologist (Dr. Keith Moore) who was noted in the article and a web
page that claims that this article is a hoax ( http://www.geocities.com/
~itmr/quran_dna.htm ). If anyone could send me some information that
would either further prove or disprove the authenticity of the article,
or lead me to a way of cantacting the author of the article and/or the
geneticist I would really appreciate this. Thank you in advance and
please direct all email to zulf...@email.com.

as-salaamu ^alaykum.

The true author of that article purporting to report this DNA
research, an atheist, has admitted the hoax in this newsgroup. A
search on deja.com should come up with postings on the subject. The
purpose of the article was to make a point about the gullibility of
Muslims when rumors supposedly favorable to Islam are circulated, and,
I would say, he succeeded in his purpose to some degree. I'm not
approving it, only noting the fact.
