Silent Mobius still in theatrical release in Japan. Anyone hear
about it? It stick to manga? Will more be made? Big question:
are there any Noisy Mobiuses? What so special about silent ones?

No, it's already withdrawn from the theatres. I haven't seen it yet
but those who have seen it say it's AWESOME (THe preview looked real
awesome). It deals with the story of Katsumi (not so prominent main
character) which were NOT covered in manga (well, it's now being
covered, although with some changes) but it follows the format of
manga by concentrating on ONE character per chapter. I hear that there
will be more Silent Mobius movies and possible "live-action" movie
to be filmed in America, although they have not been confirmed.
However, there is NO noisy Mobius. What makes Silent Mobius special?
It has everything an anime fan craves for: Gals, Mechas, Viloence,
Monsters, exciting story and AWESOME art.

I just _know_ I'm going to get flamed for this :-) but I wouldn't go
so far as to say that it was awesome. I got to see it, along with
Arslan Senki (it was a double bill) in Tokyo over the summer and I
was a little disappointed. For one thing, it was far too short
(roughly an hour or so) to really do anything with the characters.
And although the animation was good in certain parts, I thought
there were other parts that were a little sloppy (colors spilled a
bit here and there); but I suppose this might just be because the
quality of film exposes a lot of the shortcomings that might not be
that apparent on video. Admittedly, I'm not a die-hard SM fan, but
I do enjoy reading the manga and I don't think the film did a good
job of translating it to the big screen. (And if anyone's
interested, Arslan Senki wasn't that good; I think the easiest way
of rating it is the fact that about half of the audience left after
SM finished :-))

I think they would have been better off not focusing in on certain
characters so soon in the beginning. I would have preferred a 1.5
to 2 hour movie that involved the whole team before working on
individual characterization. Even still, I'd really like to see a
SM 2! :-) The idea of a live action SM movie doesn't sound that
appealing to me; in order for it to be a good movie, it would
require a look similar to that of "Blade Runner" and if the film
were made, I somehow don't think any of the major studios would pick
it up since movies like that would require a considerable budget.
And to be honest with you, I don't think any of the major Hollywood
studios are currently "liberated" enough to make a big-budgeted SF
movie with an all-female cast.
And one ending note- for American fans bitching about the price of
the colorized Viz SM manga, you're lucky you don't have to buy it in
japan; they're going for roughly $8 _per issue_ over there :-)

Flames? Not at all. I'm a die-hard fan of Silent Mobius but not
blind enough to overlook problems in it.
I agree with you that it would have been better if it were 1.5 to 2
hr movie and it should have payed more attention to other
characters.
Also I didn't like the idea of showing Arslan with Silent Mobius.
since Arslan Senki has completely different type of fans.
However, I think the movie was made for fan service and/or
to investigate the potential market for bigger project.
I also agree with you that making SM live action movie in America
isn't very realistic. So if a Silent Mobius live action movie is
to be made it'll have to depend entirely on Japanese capital. However,
since Kadokawa Shoten (The publisher of SM) is famous for making
big-budget movies, I would not completely give up the hope of
seeing live action Silent Mobius movie.
BTW, Silent Mobius is definitely influenced by Blade Runner but not
as much as BGC is.
