Running Sendmail ver.8.8.8 on SCO Openserver 5.05, 100 users.
We have been running fine since early this year without no problem,
however,
there are complains about lots of lp messages (BELOW) in various users
mailbox(over 1000 at once) for the past two weeks. I disabled
notification in scoadmin, but that crashed the entire print system. I
restored the print system from backup tape. The problem still persist.
Could this be s bug/virus in the print system for SCO 5.0.5.
Is there a fix for this?

That control determines whether the administrator is notified of printer
faults. It doesn't control whether the user is notified of cancels; that
capability was not present in 5.0.5.
Is the problem that many print jobs are being cancelled, and you don't want the
user to be mailed about them? Or is the user receiving many notifications of
the same cancellation? Or other?

The problem is the print jobs prints (not cancelled), however, the print
service still generates this message. This printers are Lexmark laser and
dot matrix connected to Digi port 16Xem Rj45. Also, I have applied sco
patch oss497b, it did not fix it. Is there a patch to relay/delete these
print messages to a log file or directory.
Thanks

Make your application use, not just 'lp', but 'lp -s'.

An updated version of lpsched lets you disable cancellation notices by putting
CANCEL_MAIL=NO in /etc/default/lpd. Send me mail if you want it.
Are you using AFPS?
