I am pleased to announce the long-awaited alpha 4 release of
InstallBase Multi-Platform Installer.

This release went through a lot of changes, too many to name really.
The entire underlying system of InstallBase was changed and
re-written. Bugs were fixed. Lots of new features.

InstallBase now uses TclKit (instead of freeWrap) as its underlying
wrapping technology. Any platform not listed in this release can
easily be added by simply adding one of the latest TclKit binary in
the proper Binaries/ directory. So, if any of you Tcl'ers wanna' give
it a go and try a platform I don't currently support, I'd love to hear
your feedback. In the next release, I will most likely support all
platforms supported by TclKit.

Unfortunately, due to many incompatibilities, any project built with
InstallBase 1.0a3 or earlier must be rebuilt in 1.0a4. The conversion
routines would have taken far too long to write, and this release was
postponed long enough.

Please download the latest release and give it a spin. Installers
exist for the most common platforms, but the source .tgz file contains
everything necessary for the supported platforms.

Platforms supported in this release are:

Windows
Linux x86
FreeBSD x86
Solaris sparc
Solaris x86

The next release will support a much larger range of platforms.

Thanks for your patience,

The InstallBase Team
