Today's Memphis Commercial Appeal ran an article about the plan to
rebuild and extend North 2nd Street from Auction Street to the US 51/TN
300 interchange in Frayser.

Highlights:

- The road would be a six-lane expressway (what TDOT calls a "parkway")
with a 34ft median south of the Wolf River, and a freeway north of the
Wolf River.

- There are wetlands in the way. (Rhetorical: When aren't there wetlands
in the way?)

- No mention of how this might tie into I-69, which probably will also
extend from the TN 300/US 51 interchange.

- Since TDOT's involved, this probably would be an extension of TN 300
(which might actually lead to TN 300 being signed in the field!)

The Enviros can get pretty testy over those Nevada 'drylands', too.

They don't give a crap, so long as the tortoises are moved and a few
joshua trees become someone's front yard's desert landscaping...

"The enviros" are too busy making sure that the Marines don't
accidentally run over a tortoise during tank exercises near Twentynine
Palms [CA] to bother with Nevada, eh?
