Static spiking oracle 9.0.2 executable: revisited

I have been having problems spiking v 9.0.2 of the oracle executable. The
machine has plenty of resources and I have lifted all of the resource
limits. The machine at present is not in production so has very little load
(2CPU ES40 2GB). I have been using spike on older version of oracle for a
while now to good effect. Has anyone successfuly spiked this version of
oracle ?
Any Ideas ?
