Hi,
I've finally managed to get a convenient connection to the Internet. I
opened an account at the Santa Fe Institute earlier in the year, but it was
slow and complicated using it from London so I gave up on it.

I know there is a ton of accumulated mail on my Santa Fe account, which I
will try and get to. I'll try and post news here from time to time if it
seems like it might interest people - for instance, it looks as if the HHGG
movie is finally coming after the shelf after 10 years.

I'm going to be doing a book signing tour in November, and I've posted a
current provisional list of where I'm going.

Best,

A big hello back to you Douglas Adams !!!

Thank you for posting every Artikel twice and thrice, I finally got a
flawless copy :-))
I must warn you. You'll generate a fantic fandom here if you post regulary
let alone answer questions !!!
I've seen that in alt.fan.pratchett (boahhh shame on him, he *mentioned*
the cursed name !).
But go ahead, hoards of little fellows appearing preferably on your
signing tours will be thankfull!
It's a creative lot here on Internet and I'm damned sure you'll get many
new ideas here.

With a wink of my towel

I think he'll discover (if he wasn't aware already) that he already has a
frantic fandom. :)

Good luck in your new foray into the real of the internet.

What? What's the site and port number? This is something I gotta
see (although I don't believe it could do justice to the books).

Does anyone know if I'm going mad? I thought I remembered in So Long, the first tst
time I read it, a part in chapter 17 where the computer salesman asked his
coworker, "Doesn't computer-brand make an astronomy program?" and then thethe
versions I can find it skips from "Looks like a fun afternoon" he said, but only to himself to the Apple line. I'm assuming the original was another loss due
to copyrights or else I have gone mad. Can anybody help?

Well, was his site actually online when you tried ? Unless DNA's into seriously
boosting the profits of British Telecom I doubt he'll stay connected at all times.

I have a demon.co.uk site, and finger will work on it, but only when I've dialled in
to send/collect mail and news etc. That takes an hour a day tops. Usually much less.
Also, I could choose not to start "finger" (or telnet, ftp, etc.).

Mind you, I'll bet DNA will get thousands of mail messages, so he'll be online for
hours!

I wonder what percentage will be of the "Are you really THE Douglas Adams?" variety?
