Médicos contaron con "pleno consentimiento" de padres

La niña nicaragüense de nueve años que quedó embarazada en una
violación abortó en una clínica privada de Managua y su estado de
salud es bueno, informaron hoy, viernes, fuentes de la Red de Mujeres
contra la violencia.
El abogado de los padres de la niña, Sergio García, informó en la
misma rueda de prensa que los progenitores de la menor decidieron que
su hija fuera sometida al aborto terapéutico.
Agregó que el aborto fue practicado por tres médicos, que no
identificó que contaron con el "pleno consentimiento" de los padres.
Los progenitores añadieron que el aborto de la niña lo decidieron
asumiendo la responsabilidad emanada de la patria potestad y
reiteraron que el estado de salud de la menor es excelente y que
encuentra tranquila.
La menor, que tenía unas 15 semanas de gestación tras haber sido
violada en Costa Rica, ingresó anoche de urgencia en una clínica
privada de Managua con problemas de salud derivados de su embarazo.
La niña, cuya identidad permanece en reserva como ordena la ley, fue
violada presuntamente por un joven costarricense, cuando ayudaba a
recolectar café a sus padres, campesinos analfabetos pobres, en una
hacienda de Costa Rica.
Tras ser atendida en dos hospitales costarricenses, se le detectó el
embarazo y dos enfermedades de transmisión sexual, por lo que sus
padres la repatriaron y solicitaron a las autoridades de Nicaragua,
permitir que se le practicara un aborto terapéutico.
Una junta de tres médicos del Ministerio de Salud examinaron esta
semana a la niña y emitieron un dictamen en el que advierten que la
menor puede morir tanto si se le interrumpe la gestación como si no,
pero no se decantó por ninguna de las dos alternativas.
``La niña se siente tranquila, se siente bien. Está feliz. Está en
excelente estado de salud. Ellos (los padres) están muy contentos
también de que la situación se haya resuelto'', dijo el viernes en
rueda de prensa Violeta Delgado de la Red.
Según Delgado, los padres de la niña, Francisco Leonardo Fletes y
María de los Santos Esquivel Vega, decidieron el jueves aceptar la
oferta de tres médicos que voluntariamente se comunicaron con ellos y
les ofrecieron atender a la niña.
El abogado de los padres, Sergio García Quintero, dijo que éstos
lamentaron que el ministerio de Salud ``se desantendiera tan
irresponsablemente de nuestra hija''.
Desafío
El aborto de la menor fue un verdadero desafío a las advertencias
hecha por el gobierno del presidente Enrique Bolaños, que optaba por
salvar al niño por nacer, de que encausaría a los responsables.
La red de mujeres, acusó a la ministra de la Familia, Natalia
Barillas, de actuar ``influenciada por la iglesia católica''.
Las leyes nicaragüenses permiten el aborto terapéutico en caso de
peligro de muerte de la madre o malformación fetal, con permiso del
pariente más cercano.
Un dictamen de una comisión médica nombrada por el Gobierno encontró
que la niña corría igual riesgo en su salud con un aborto que dejando
transcurrir el embarazo.
La comisión no dijo cual era la mejor opción, pero confirmó que el
feto de desarrollaba de manera normal.
La red de mujeres dijo que mantuvo escondida a la niña y a sus padres
porque la ministra Barillas intentaba arrebatarles la tutela de la
menor en nombre del Estado.
La Red alegaba que, según la ley, los padres debían decidir que hacer
con la menor. El Estado por su parte dijo que le correspondía proteger
al nuevo ser que estaba por nacer.

La niña, de 9 años, tenía unas 16 semanas de embarazo, producto de una
violación en Costa Rica.
Los padres insistieron en un aborto terapéutico, permitido por la
legislación nicaragüense en casos especiales, pese a la oposición de
la iglesia católica y de instituciones gubernamentales.
