Mozart - Remembering Heaven Or Civilization

16 September 2002

Heavy crying, of joy, on the third movement of Piano Concerto
No.11 KV 413, three and one quarter minutes from the beginning
when performed by pianist Derek Han.
The particular part is 19 seconds long, the orchestra plays the
main melody, the piano accompanies the orchestra.

Derek Han touches, interprets, performs the Beauty. (Not all
pianists do - Mario-Ratko Delorko does not reach it, does not get
at it, for instance.)

(Derek Han, 1992, London, Philharmonia Orchestra under Paul Freeman
- Brilliant Classics* - Berkshire Record Outlet or Kruidvat)

It is the memory of the very intense Joy and very intense Beauty
that I was expressing, that I was then in my Mozart life time
remembering and connecting to and expressing.

But it is also an intense crying of loss of the connection, of the
loss of that Joy and that Beauty.
It's the connection to heaven, to civilization as it should be, and
the loss of it.

It's the same crying that I did when I heard a few days ago that a
memorial service for September 11 New York was done with 15,000
people singing the Mozart Requiem.

It's the same when I saw the world wide televised wedding of the
Royal Dutch Couple Willem Alexander and Maxima with a performance
of Mozart.
