I am in the need of a method of generating PDF files. My company writes an
application system which now need to be able to create these files, from
time to time. We were thinking of setting up a "print to pdf", since we can
have multiple printer definitions in our system. I have been following
directions in order to get the "ghostscript" to be installed from a
Shunkware 2000 CD. However, the Shunkware 2000 INSTALL procedure is
"crashing" my server, since it is corrupting the CUSTOM databases. After
that, I need to do a "recovery" restore, which works correctly.

Can someone direct me to an easier method to create a PDF file, on demand
and with different file names?????

How is Skunkware installation screwing up your custom databases?

Check out www.sanface.com - Look for txt2pdf.

It's a perl solution that works well and is pretty easy to use on
SCO.
We use to publish financial reports (hundreds a month) and forward to
end users by email.

Shunkware 2000 was installing the modules and "hung" for over two hours.
The server was completely frozen solid and when I forced a reboot, CUSTOM
came out with an error stating that a database (example:
./opt/dfmhdjjkIKEWR9II32R99324DHFRUY34) was corrupted. I did not have the
complete time to try to salvage the database, so I used my AIR BAG recovery
of my server, with the latest Lone-Tar backup.

Thanks go to Yussef M. ElSirgany of the filePro mail list for bringing it
to my and others attention. I've been wishing for something like this for
ages.
