Report from "Project Phoenix" Group Meeting 10/10/98

A meeting of the Steering Group ("Group") of Key Dealers, Developers and
all interested Third parties was held at the weekend. The Group agreed
to further support the efforts of Peter Bondar to raise finance in order
to purchase from Acorn Computers Ltd ("Acorn") the non-exclusive rights
to Risc based computers and thin clients. This decision was taken
following the announcement that Acorn was closing its Workstation
division and would cease the development of Phoebe Risc PC 2.
The Group recognised that this route represented the best overall choice for
the future development of Risc OS based products.
The Group is pleased to report that a specific European organisation has
been identified and discussions are at an advanced stage to secure funding
to set up a New Company ("NewCo") based in Cambridge UK which will
develop and market Phoebe, Risc OS 4 and related products.
It is the intention of the NewCo to create a new method of third party
co-operation to encourage the development of future Risc OS based third
party products.
