Artex Software's statement
--------------------------

We won't answer anything regarding Acorn games development, because we are
all in holidays at the moment, in some unreachable spot in China, and won't
return for six years.

No :-)

Artex Software are more than sad about the fact that Acorn have given up the
Workstation division along with the RiscPC 2 and the Acorn World Show. We
are especially sorry for all the capable computer experts that have been
made redundant.

However, an action moving into that direction was predictable, and Artex
Software have been planning with the decline of the Acorn market in mind.
Our two major projects, the realtime strategy game TEK and the 3D
action/strategy game Iron Dignity remain almost unharmed by the new
situation.

TEK has been planned as a Network Computer game right from the beginning,
and the sales on the RiscPC platform were (and are) only considered as a
bonus. And as there are Network Computer companies who are interested in a
TEK licence, TEK will be finished and sold. The RiscPC version will also be
available, including some special features as extra-large screen
resolutions and a number of extra camera windows.

Iron Dignity is designed with a PC conversion in mind. If all goes well, the
game will be available for the PC during 1999. At about the same time, it
will be available for the Acorn RiscPC too. It would have been very nice to
see it running on a Phoebe RiscPC 2 at greater speed, but as the game is
developed on StrongARM machines, they are sufficient for nice gameplay.
(Well, you might have to turn the reflections off...)

And for those who want to know, BotKiller 2 will also be released shortly.

To sum up, Artex Software are more than sad about Acorn's decision. But our
further development is not affected by this move, and as long as the
situation will not change even more drastically, TEK and Iron Dignity will
definitely be released for the RISC OS community.

More information can be found on our re-designed webpage very soon.

Many cheers,
Jan
