There will be some delay on the physical delivery of the tapes, because the
original prints are all in cold storage, and you literally have to allow them
time to defrost before you can run them through, and then there's the
duplication time involved...and we haven't yet determined if new copies will be
provided from S2 ep 1 and on in that order, or if they'll try to nail the next
ones up in the airing schedule to get the corrected versions on the air
sooner...but either way, we have been given assurances that the problem is now
being dealt with.
SFC has been very helpful and patient in this situation, and it looks as if
there was an error at the duplicating lab contracted by WB, literally a case of
loading the wrong prints into the system, because the S5 eps are in proper
widescreen, so we're looking at errors in S2-4 only.
To further assure that these errors are not perpetuated, we will have teams of
Democratic and Republican observers present to...oh, wait, sorry, wrong crisis.

*60%* of the series, they screwed up!?!?!?!
I would ask if this would affect the non-existent DVDs...

It's our last best hope for peace? We're *so* screwed.
No. Let me repeat: they chose the wrong versions from which to make the
transfers. They stuck the regular prints rather than the lbs copies *that
exist already*. It's not nothing to do with the dvd situation, because the
original widescreen are in the vault, they just pulled the wrong ones for the
SFC transfer (as I understand it).
Do you think you could influence SFC to show the episodes in the proper
order?
SFC was asked about this on their bulletin board and they replied that
viewers wanted to see the episodes in the original broadcast order, but
that they were considering showing them in the "jms" order for a future
run.
Somehow, I doubt if they took a vote amongst the viewers to determine
this.

Before you buy.

The JMS order is the "proper" order. As the series was originally
broadcast, some episodes were jumbled up by the networks. The JMS
order, which can be found on the Lurker's Guide, fixes continuity and
timeline glitches, and when B5 is viewed in the "intended Straczynski
order," the overall story flows nicer, and makes more sense, etc Be
glad Sci-Fi showing it in the JMS order.

Bester:"I'm a telepath. Work it out." <*>
Um. Last I checked, they're not, they're showing it in broadcast order.
I'm compiling my tapes in JMS order and I had to keep TKO around for
several days to put it in its proper place.

The person I was replying to said Sc-Fi had said they were showing it in
the JMS order. I wouldn't know, unfortunately (blasted basic cable.)

The garbage?

Related to this, Lurker's has "Day of the Dead" being shown in its
proper slot, but its original broadcast order was 3 episodes before its
proper slot due to TNT's spring hiatus of B5 for the NBA Playoffs.
Does Sci-Fi know this and will they make an exception to "original
broadcast order" as TNT did when it showed "Day of the Dead" in re-runs?

Surely, you jest. Do you think WB will be that responsive? I don't. It's
more likely that it'll be fixed (hopefully, correctly fixed) for the next
run through.
Mac
No, he said they were considering doing so in future. The current run
is in original broadcast order, or was last I checked (I gave up about
a week into season 2 and chopped chins). I'm taping again today just
to remind myself how bizarre the cropping is. Then I'll probably go
away again until it's fixed.
I wonder whether the cropping is affecting the ratings. Do the
millions out there even realize, or is it just we most rabid fans?
It would be poor if they didn't give it a second run-through for
some reason, with the proper letterboxing.

Yeah yeah yeah. Gotta have every bit of my soulful Ivanova, sorry.

Yep.
