I know this has been asked before but I compared two scenes from the
Long Dark in the "Letterbox" version to the original broadcast version
and there is a clear cropping of the scenes. You have said that it
isn't the Sci-Fi channels fault but that of WB, so does the Sci-Fi
channel have any recourse to get a properly done letterbox version to
broadcast. This is becoming quite annoying when all you can see in a
close up head shot is the actors nose and eyes and a little upper lip
moving.

They're working on the situation now to try and rectify this with WB.

Craig Engler of SFC said at the SFC B5 board that JMS contacted him &
told him of our concerns. SFC is now looking into it. Thanks, Joe &

(This really ought to go in a FAQ, along with "When is B5 coming out

I read that series of messages myself. I was at the Blackpool 97 con and
thought some of the organisation left a lot to be desired. Don't get me
wrong, I enjoyed it immensely, and I thank JMS and all the guests who
attended. THis had been the first (and so far only) con that I have
attended. To finally meet the people who had *been* these characters was a
little overwhelming. Of special note was the guests willingness to defy the
con stewards who sometimes tried to treat the guests as their own personal
possesions. I remember standing in the autograph queue for the second day
running, and when I reached the head of the queue, I was more or less
'shoved' over to Mira's signing table. On the first day I had queued for
quite some time, and those attendees will tell you of the Norbreck hotels
handy little 'glasshouse' we were in. I don't take strong heat too well and
on the first day I wa feeling *very* unwell when I reached the autograph
room and got signed at Miras table, and had to leave. As I was sayong, on
hte second day I was 'shoved' over to her table despite me saying I had
already had my 'quota' signed by her. I asked her, since I was here
basically, could she personalise the picture she had sold me on the previous
day. The glare I got from the nearby steward would have turned me to
stone!!!!
After the con, I remember reading that SFX was meant to be doing big
coverage of the event and so I hunted out the issue in question. When I got
it, the coverage was dissapointing to say the least. Most of the
photographic stuff was of the long queues and there was very little
positicve to say about what was a rather unique event.
I can see why some people might be p****d off at SFX.

Yes, I agree there should be a FAQ with old threads for people to look up.

I hate sounding naive and asking questions asked 1,000 times, especially when I *KNOW* they've been asked (but I have yet to be informed)

You could try http://www.deja.com/usenet or http://www.midwinter.com/lurk

(and you could also try quoting at the top and responding at the
bottom and snipping the quoted text down to only the relevant bits per
usenet standard)

Strange. It worked last time I checked. But here's another:

http://www.deja.com/msgid.xp?MID%3C38405b81...@news.demon.co.uk%3E

It's based on article's Message-ID, so it really *should* work. If
not, Deja's Usenet Power Search isn't so hard to use either.
