Hey guys!

I got this e-mail today and I thought I'd ask around to see if it looks
familiar to anyone. Either Thursday or Friday, I went to the Sierra site to
get the free stuff there. I gave my credit card info to pay for the
shipping and handling. I never received an e-mail confirmation from them,
but I got this e-mail today.

Dear Angela,

We are sorry for the inconvenience, but we have had trouble authorizing
your credit card. Please contact us to verify your credit card information
(number, expiration date, and name on the card). Once we verify your number
we will be able to process your order.

You can contact us at B...@fortune800.com or call 800-858-4263 and ask for
reference #37.
Please refer to Order # :1167358

Thank You,
Wendy

Are these related? There is no mention whatsoever of Sierra. I would think
that someone trying to verify my credit card info would at least give me a
last name or a company. This sounds very, very fishy to me. I called the
phone number and the guy who answered the phone said "Babylon 5. May I help
you." I've never heard of any company actually going by the name Babylon 5.
I told them I had the wrong number and hung up. I'm not about to give them
my credit card until I know more.

Anyway, I thought this would be the right place to ask other people. Does
this e-mail or "company" sound familiar? Or is this a scam?

Thanks!
Angela

to quote from their web site

"Fortune 800 is an outsourced customer service contact center. We provide
24/7 customer service coverage for our clients, handling orders, inquiries,
technical support and fulfillment. We specialize in the high tech and
healthcare industries, providing customer support to their e-commerce
initiatives."

Sound like they _might_ be handling customer service for Sierra....

Angela,

I didn't get any kind of confirmation from Sierra either but I did get my watch
today. (wow, fast!)

I checked the packing slip and the 800# that you showed is the number to call
on the packing slip. Also, the order number you gave is similar to mine
(1167266).

Based on that, I'd say it's probably legit.

Hope this helps,

Jan

>From the info I've heard (direct from a Sierra employee on the
www.firstones.com website), Sierra outsourced the handling of the free
merchandise. So the "fortune800.com" is probably who they contracted
to process the info. It's not a scam. I got charged by them and I
received my stuff.

Hope that helps.
