To bring folks up to speed...Midnight Nation #1 is out now and doing land
office business. Most copies are already sold out but if you call around you
may be able to find a few here and there. It's getting terrific reviews so
far.

Rising Stars #10 should be out next week, I believe.

More on another front later.

Good news. I've been curious to see how it places on the Diamond Topp
100. Though I like the RS concept better, IMO MN's execution puts it
head & shoulders above it. Sorry for the backhanded compliment. :)

Initially I thought you were refering to non-comics stuff, but I've
just come across some big rumour/news that has me wondering.

I'm tempted to just ask the question, but I expect a Vorlonism in
return, at best. :)

So, here's a quote from today's Comics Newsarama for one and all to
marvel over:

"Along the lines of creator-shuffling, the rumor speaks of a new
creator coming on to AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, one who's star has been rising
for quite some time now, currently has couple of books at another
publisher, and is nearly always referred to by three letter, rather
than his name."

If true, new E-I-C Joe Quesada really is making Marvel Comics a much
more creative, writer-friendly place.

Got my copy. Still don't understand what's going on with the guy, but I'm
certain we'll think we know in good time, yes?

I expect the cliche "all things come to those who wait" applied rightly
here. :)

We're wall-crawling in anticipation. :)

Subject: August Update

COMIC BOOK
This past weekend at the Wizard World Comic Convention in Chicago,
Top Cow announced that it was the publisher of Fiona Avery's new
comic book. Fiona would prefer to leave the rest of the details to
Wizard Magazine, who will be doing exclusive coverage of the comic
book in November or thereabouts. The comic is due out sometime in or
after February.

Subject: September Update

UPCOMING NEWS
There are more comic book announcements on the way, as Fiona gears up
to write yet another comic, for another major comic book publisher,
coming to stands in the year 2001!
***

Not quite a Vorlon, but Fiona's pretty good at playing close to the
vest with details too. It'll be interesting to see how she handles the
comics format, and what ideas she brings to her titles. Not to mention
who the artists will be. :)

Q. What was the cat doing when he ate cheese and sat in front of a mouse
hole?

A. Waiting with baited breath.

It's not "baited breath"? Interesting--you learn something new every
day. I always thought you used "baited" in that expression.

Sort of like that "Gauntlet/Gantlet" thing (a gauntlet is a glove, a
gantlet is a double row of oponenets who strike you as you pass between
them. You issue a challenge by throwing down a gauntlet, or pass a
challenge by running a gantlet)

What is the derivation of "Bated" by the way? From whence does it come?

Actually from and whence mean roughly the same thing...so that should be
"Whence does it come?"
