I don't know if you've heard about this, but some Native American &
Latino students want SDSU to drop the Aztec as their mascot. I don't
think the people who came up with the mascot meant to be mean, but I
also think the students have a point because a lot of these mascots are
pretty cartoonish & stereotypical, anyway. Since you're a former SDSU
student, what's your opinion on this?

Also, didn't you work for the Daily Californian newspaper once? I'm
asking because the newspaper is no more--it was bought by a publisher in
nearby Alpine. The Californian had declining sales for awhile, so it
went down to a couple of issues a week. Finally, the other company
bought it, & now it's publishing out of Alpine & is called The East
County Californian. I was never a huge fan of the newspaper, but it's
weird not seeing it in El Cajon anymore.

Depends. How many of them are Aztecs?

Yeah, I used to do regular entertainment reviews and the occasional feature
article for them.

As a SDSU Alumni myself I don't see the guy as stereotypical at all. I mean he
doesn't perform a human sacrifice of one of the cheerleaders before each game,
that would be the stereotypical behavior of the Aztecs.
