( And he was a famous TV character a couple of times, too, when
they managed to inveigle him in front of the cameras to play
small parts in various of his plays that were done on the BBC;

I say Samuel Beckett and the first thing folks think of (here and in other
messages) is QUANTUM LEAP and FANFIC?!? Is THAT the frame of reference we're
dealing with here?

I intended it as a joke. Like I said before, the first thing that came
to mind was Chaucer and the Cantebury Tales, but then I remembered
that it was the wrong Beckett; then I remembered Godot, and saw that
fit in with what you said about the episode before.
Considering that I said [runs for cover] at the end of the message
seemed pretty indicative of the fact that, not only was it a joke, I
also knew it was a bad joke and would provoke the reaction from you
that it did.

Not Much. Actually, it's been Not Much since the early- to mid-eighties.
Even in college. I learned more tinkering with stuff in the School of Hard
Knocks (from which I have the honorary Masters of Head Bashing Against Wall
Political Science, by the way) than I ever did slogging through Physics 122,
the Weed Out Course.

When you actively espouse and support a defective, failing, system,
