Hello. I have two quick questions about The Nautilus Coil (by J.G.
Keys)... 1) How much of the story was yours and how much was Keys'. The
only reason I ask is that there is some foreshadowing to stories that
have yet to be told, which you do a lot in your writing. 2) In the
story, Vacit tells Garabaldi and Lyta that there has not been a race to
evolve telepathy or telekinesis naturally. This puzzles me, because
there *were* a few of the first ones to exhibit telepathic abilities...
The Shadows (specifically, when Ivonava, Delenn and the rest were
looking for Sheridan over Z'ha'dum, a Shadow creature or a projection
thereof stopped them dead in their tracks, and it seemed to know there
names and seemed to speak to them in the voices of late loved ones), the
Vorlons (who have a tendency to leave a chunk of themselves in people,
and who are also able to project the image of themselves that they want
people to see), and Lorien (who could apparently get into Sheridan's
dreams and who knew about Kosh's presence in Sheridan). Was this just
another deception by Vacit or did the First Ones manipulate their *own*
DNA to achieve telepathic or pseudotelepathic abilities? Thank you too
much for your time,

-The Jeff

Sheridan:"So how did you find out all of this?"
Bester:"I'm a telepath. Work it out." <*>

It was entirely Greg's.

Greg did a good job on Nautilus Coil, too--I thought it was very
intriguing.

Keyes is a very engaging writer. Having come to him via the B-5 books, I
casually picked up "Newton's Cannon," and have been thoroughly enjoying
that particular "what if ..." saga.

I just hope he can maintain the steam it takes to get to the conclusion
of a series of the magnitude he seems to be attempting (three books so
far and no wrap-up yet in sight). I'm not usually a big fan of series
fiction, because the ideas so often run out before the books do.
