Knowing how fond you are of your earlier work, I thought you might like
to know that the Odyssey Network has acquired the airing rights for
He-Man and She-Ra. The channel have yet to announce when they'll air,
though it should show up in the not to distant future. For those who get
the channel it should be fun looking for things that made it into B5
("No, I don't want any SPOOOOOOO. I *hate* Spoo. (beat) And I don't
even know what Spoo IS.").

What exactly was your involvement in the He-Man/She-Ra cartoons? I used to
love them (<gruff voice> Well, more He-Man, of course...ahem </gruff voice>)
when I was kid (and I've got a massive box of figures still in my loft to
prove it ;)). What other cartoons and stuff have you been involved in? And
did you always use the name J. Michael Straczynski, or did you write under a
pen-name?

Hey!, My kids grew up on that. Then they went onto B5, so it wasn't
that bad.
On top of all that, we still have a video:
"Captain Power, and the Soldiers of the Future - The Legend Begins"
I *still* like it, and I'm 45. ( I think I'm going through a second
chilhood)

It was a very cool show... and jms also wrote a move script that wrapped up the
series, though it was never produced. :-(
Hmm... He-Man and She-Ra resurfaced because Hallmark, which owns the Oddesy
Network, bough the rights to Filmation's cartoons when Filmation went bankrupt.
IIRC both The Real Ghostbusters and Jayce were produced by DIC. Anybody know
who has those rights now?

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that DIC's owned by Haim Saban's company.

I will admit (maybe I shouldn't but the net seems to be giving me courage!) to
watching and liking He-man and She-ra. Won't say how old I was.....
Lisa Coulter
32? hehe
The only version of He-Man I could stomach is the parody of him on
the kid's show "KABLAAM", known as THE FLESH. (Also with Stinky Diver
as a great Man-at-Arms) Now that show gives the concept the treatment
it deserves!
And of course, it also has Prometheus and Bob - if I could find a DVD
of Prometheus and Bob clips, well - there's no telling what I would do.
Definitely the funniest series of shorts I've seen in a long, long time.

I was in my late twenties then, and I watched it, along with some of the
earlier Japanese anime stuff that was syndicated back then. Yeah I watched
it too. Scary. When the movie came out, I actually knew who all the
characters were already.

Oooh, I love Kablaam. It's like Liquid Television for kids. (you
remember that show? when MTV didn't totally suck) And I'd like to
have a DVD collection of P&B and the Action League Now shorts.

Okay, Joe, why *doesn't* Orko have any feet? :)
Tammy
PS--Actually, I always thought Orko looked like a Jawa!

Well, I lived with my two oldest sons (now 20 and 19) watching He-Man every
day, owning all the toys, etc., but now my youngest son (8 years old) likes to
watch KABLAAM and I have to agree with you - It's a riot!!! We have all the
KABLAAM dolls that Burger King was giving away in the Kids Meals, too, though
I've had to rescue Stinky Diver from our toilet a couple of times (where he
landed courtesy of my son!).

Again, I have to agree! I don't think I've laughed so hard that I couldn't
breathe for a long time except for watching Prometheus and Bob. It definitely
knows how to tickle my funny bone!

Sorry - I am not *nearly* that old!
Lisa Coulter
PS: Is that when *you* enjoyed the episode above? And of course, you were clearly
watching it too :)!

>Okay, Joe, why *doesn't* Orko have any feet? :)
i have a man at arms figure, that doesn't have any arms! my old dog chewed
them into mangled pieces of plastic, so i just threw them out. i ind it ironic
that man at ARMS is the only one without ARMS. (yes, yes, i know "arms" in his
name refers to weaponry)
and i lost the cockpit to my Capt. Power Fighter jet :-( but the Power-On
Converter works perfectly! even still works with the old tape i have, on it's
original batteries. <g>

For a more mundane answer than jms' - since toys the toys were designed
before the show was made, I would think it was to give the little guy a
gimmick: You could wind him up, and he'd dance around the floor and wave
his arms.
My favourites were the two modular figures - the imaginatively named
Modulock, and the other more robot like fellow whose name I can't
remember. I used to put the together in all sorts of bizarre
formations... tons of fun :-)
Since it's an animation script, where the Writers Guild isn't involved,
the script is the property of the production company. So jms can't
leagly sell it without their aproval, and I doubt they'll give it
(whoever "they" are for the moment).
Hey! I know Joe asked for it, but I wanted to see the end of
Rising Stars (and Crusade -- sometime, somewhere).
