Hi,
Yesterday I saw "The Path of Sorrows" for the first time. For a person
who is supposed to be very tough, Dureena was brought to tears very
easily by Galen. Even people who aren't supposed to be tough wouldn't
get so upset by what Galen said. In my opinion, most people would just
get pissed.

Besides, how does Galen know what buttons to press? Didn't he meet
Dureena fairly recently? I didn't see them really getting to know so
much about each other during the show.

Bye,
Edo

If a technomage can know the 6 words to make someone fall in love with you
forever, he can sure as heck know which buttons to push on Dureena.

Aren't those 6 words "my bank account is too big"?

Er, just what the heck are those 6 words? I saw all 13
episodes but don't remember them.

Or is it like the Monty Python skit with a joke so funny
that it will kill you, and is sucessfully used to win the
war against the Nazis. Of course we never get to read that
joke ourselves (the BBC had a policy against killing viewers
in the late 60's and early 70's).

jms is probably referring to the early season 2 Babylon 5 episode "The
Geometry of Shadows", and the words of Elric the Technomage (who we find out
in Crusade is Galen's master") - (though apparently Elric mentions fourteen
words, it looks like Galen refined the technique)

"The true secrets, the important things. Fourteen words to make someone fall
in love with you forever. Seven words to make them go without pain, or to
say goodbye to a friend who is dying. How to be poor, how to be rich, how to
rediscover the dream the world has stolen from you."
-- Elric to Captain Sheridan in Babylon 5:"The Geometry of Shadows" from
http://www.cs.tut.fi/~albert/Quotes/B5-quotes.html

(And if you wanted to ask jms what those fourteen (or six) words are, he has
already been asked, and this was his answer - From the Lurker's Guide for
the episode at http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/guide/025.html

"If I told you what the 14 words were, they wouldn't mean anything anymore"

I had never noticed, and I am still chuckling. I wasn't going to ask this,
as it's probably a stupid question, but nothing ventured.....

Was your answer deliberately 14 words, Joe, or another example of Babylon 5
synchronicity?

I believe that is a whole other emotion being engaged...
