Third AMAZING STORIES Story

The first one was a Londo story because I really wanted to do something
different and cool with the character, go inside his head and show the
transition to being emperor, let folks know that inside he was still the same
Londo...the second one with Lyta and G'Kar was mainly for fun, to play with
them and see their relationship together out there.

The third, which I just finished and turned in to Amazing Stories, and which
will appear I think around May, was written with one express purpose: to set
the proverbial cat amongst the proverbial pigeons with something that's going
to send a ripple all through B5 fandom; it's a story I don't think anyone ever
expected to see.

Just the first line alone should stun a number of B5 folks

And that's all I'm going to say about it. But just know...there's a real
toad-strangler coming up in May.

(And Rising Stars 4 is out now.)

Wow--I can't wait to read *this* one!

Why do I feel so uneasy, though? JMS is about to shock us again! :)

Hi Joe,

I'm curious. Since, as you've said, WB owns the B5 characters lock stock and
barrel, I'm sure the Amazing Stories stuff is licensed. That being the case, does
WB have story approval? What if you were to go and do something drastic?
Hypothetically, let's say you wrote a story about the Drakh plague mutating,
spreading off world and killing all the regular B5 characters. (Or something akin
to Arthur Conan Doyle killing off Sherlock Holmes.) Would they have the power to
veto it?

Resending again, since first post still hasn't shown up:

No wonder Mr Kitty got under your skin.

You're just a big ol' cat playing with your food
and wondering
when the silly humans will catch on.

Loved the Londo story, btw, and look forward to the
Lyta/G'kar
story, which I've not had time to read yet.

As for the toad, I'll lay in a supply of compound

warts fall...

Nope. They don't get into it.

Consequently, don't think I haven't played with the idea of going nuts from
time to time....

See:

http://www.wizards.com/amazing/new.asp

and

http://www.wizards.com/amazing/Backissues.asp

So far, the issues are:
Summer 1999 - #597 - Londo story.
Winter 2000 - #599 - Lyta/G'Kar story

They appear to be out of #597, since it has no "Buy Now!" button.

I only have one copy of each (and I'm not letting mine go). Sorry. I saw
in #599 Barnes & Noble a week ago (and bought the last one for a friend).
Maybe check with your local Barnes & Noble. Call around.

Here's an idea - Maybe Amazing Stories could do a reprint of just the B5
stories. Might be a good thing to suggest to them (via email,
ama...@wizards.com ). I solved the problem by subscribing.

You know, I gotta say I'm hoping you live to be 100+, so we can keep filling in
the gaps in the B5 universe one ... deliberate... (painfully slow) ... step at
a time.

even if you do knock us for a loop once in a while.

That's all very well and good - but does anyone out there know how I could
get my hands on these magazines in the UK - the website does not offer
international shipping - and I feel a little cheated after buying all the
videos and all the cannonical novels that have been released here that I
cannot get my hands on these two official stories simply because of where I
live :(.

Did you email them (ama...@wizards.com) and ask them this question?
They'll probably send it to you, but you have to ask first.

I have a feeling this story could be about Lennier. JMS really shocked
us during the 5th season with Lennier's betrayal, & I have always had a
feeling that there's more surprises where that came from.

Actually I've always thought that Lennier's redemption ould most likely have
something to do ith the rescue of David Sheridan from Centauri Prime circa
2278 after the keeper took him over.

The Official Babylon 5 Magazine is going to start printing original stories
by JMS starting in March, so presumably those stories are the ones from
Amazing Stories? Certainly hope so, anyway!

No, these will be brand new stories, written just for the B5 magazine (the
first of which will be determined by fan vote from four possible story areas).

Both. Either. :)

Here's the info from another thread's earlier post:
-----------------------
There's a voting form to be published in upcoming issues of B5 Magazine
(#20 has one) which will enable readers to choose from four specific
suggestions from jms for stories. Joe will then write the story.
The four areas are:
a) Old B5 crew (during the five year arc)
b) New B5 crew (after the five year arc)
c) Garibaldi
d) G'Kar
DO NOT SEND STORY IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS. All you have to do is pick one
of
the four and get your vote to Babylon 5 Magazine
(b5ma...@titanemail.com),
with the subject header "B5 Fiction Vote" by 31 January 2000. Include
your name and address with your vote.
Alternatively, mail your vote to Babylon 5 Magazine, Titan Magazines,
144 Southwark Street, London SE1 0UP
----------------------

Best not wait for the form, eh? :)
