I have a screenwriter friend in California, and we both like to gossip.
I've heard some *very* interesting stories from him (most of which can't
be repeated in polite company), and I'd like to see if anyone has heard
this one.

Take careful note - this is a RUMOR. My friend heard it from someone
who heard it from someone else.

The rumor is that Sci-Fi is negotiating with TNT to do some sort of
one-time special CRUSADE marathon. All the episodes would be shown back
to back, and if the ratings were high enough to please the Skiffy Suits,
talks would begin for possible purchase of CRUSADE by Skiffy.

On its face, this sounds plausible. Granted, it would cost a bundle to
buy the rights for the marathon, but my friend heard that TPTB at Skiffy
feel that this marathon would be a good way to measure potential
viewership.

It's news to me, so I doubt its authenticity. Also, they'd have to factor into
the equation that the episodes have just run on TNT recently, so a lot of folks
have seen 'em.

....and a lot of folks have missed them due to lack of promotion (not knowing
it was on), and musical timeslots of the (remember the NBA draft?) rerun ep.

All of Sci-Fi channel's marathons are re-runs. They would factor that in if
they ran Crusade.

The first Farscape marathon of re-runs got higher ratings that the show usually
gets.

Yeah, a lot of people probably tuned in to fill the holes in their tape
collection. That's the way I got "I E. T.", "Back and Back and Back to the
Future", and "Thank God It's Friday". so I'm glad Sci-Fi does this.

If they have room on their schedule for The Sentinel, and the current
Sliders, they have to have room for Crusade.

I just wish they'd fund it so that a proper *first* season of Crusade could
be made. That is, with the episodes put in the correct order and new
episodes shot to fill in any holes in the order, and Warzone deleted.

This might or might not be an accurate measure. Let me put
it this way:
My roomie and I watch very little TV. The *only* reason we'd
get cable is if Crusade were to be resurrected. Thus, we
might not watch the marathon, but would watch the series.

I hope this is true--I have been waiting for so long to hear something
good about Crusade. The whole situation has made me even more
disdainful of networks than I usually am, & that's quite a feat! I'll
wait & see, but it would be great if it were true!
