Spoilers

I just got my copy of The Gathering in the mail yesterday. I guess this
script was done before Delenn became a female in the series, because the
script kept describing Delenn as male. It was jarring at first, but I
got used to it.

I liked the extra scene with Garibaldi & the insectoid-alien. Was this
cut for time? I think it would've been really funny.

As for Final Reckoning, I was very impressed with the book. Now, I want
to find out more about the Telepath War! I want to find out how Lyta
died. Will we find out more about G'Kar & Lyta in the Centauri Trilogy?
I know you have a story about them coming out (can't wait).

Greg Keyes did a fantastic job with the PsiCorps. books. I hope you
will let him write more B5 books in the future! He really "knew"
Bester.

Tammy

PS--At Agamemcon, Keyes was talking about how he got to kill off Bester.
He seemed quite happy about it! <g>

We couldn't get the prosthetic to work right, so we never filmed it. Unless
you read the script, there's no other way to know about it.

And yeah, Greg did a great job on the book.

You already saw it. The person who gave her life to free the
telepaths we saw in the flashback in Crusade was supposed to be Lyta.
Tallman didn't like what they were offering to pay, so it was recast.

IIRC, she was busy with another job. I know SGWM made a comment last year
that rumor had it she and Doyle had scenes removed from Crusade episodes
because they were unhappy with the money, but I don't recall ever seeing
anything to lend validity to those rumors.

The problem with that is the way it was presented.

An actor has a fee he or she receives for a full week's work. Let's say, for
the sake of argument, it's 7,000 for a 7 day shoot, only because that will make
the math simpler. If you only need an actor for one or two days, it's typical
that you only pay the actor for the one or two days of work. If it's more than
that, you generally pay full freight, seven days, $7,000.

We did this with Richard Biggs, who didn't have a problem with it, as most
don't. When we went to shoot "Path," we only needed Pat for one day.
Actually, it would've been only a partial day, 3 scenes. Out around lunchtime.
So we offered a day rate. She wanted a full week's salary. We couldn't do
that. End of story.

No animosity, no acrimony, we had what we had, and that didn't work out. But
it is utterly consistent with how all TV is done.

"The Babylon File, Volume Two" has letters from both Patricia and Willerth
(Forward/End) and she does admit that it was not only the job, but the money,
too. She said they first offered her sixth of the price she usually got
(working on a smaller budget sucks, no doubt), and her self-respect wouldn't
let her do it. In the end they had offered her about half, but she still had
the other job.

Though she did say she enjoyed working there, on Babylon 5, she hated all the
contracts and stuff (I don't blame her)

A hail would ring of the heavens in hate;
The stars are theirs to hold."

Yes, so you can never blame the /show/ for the lack of payment. More or less
the amount they have to use. I wouldn't blame Pat for not taking it, either.
Like she pointed out, she was out of town, anywho, and she wouldn't let herself
work for that rate. (Though it still would of been good to see her again.) Some
don't mind it, others do.
