For those who have missed it...John Copeland has decided that his director's
slate (clapboard) for the last ep of B5 produced, used on the last scene, last
shot, belongs better in someone else's hands...and has put it on ebay for sale.
It's a rare part of actual B5 history.

I went there yesterday and found it under the completed auctions listing.
It's already been sold. The price was $580 if I remember correctly.

It's the director's slate of the last scene of the 100th episode "The
Ragged Edge" according to the Ebay-website.

Didn't a guest actor from one of the shows get in a lot of trouble for
trying to sell his copy of the script on Ebay? If that wasn't ok, why
would this be?

I think the problem was with a parking permit that had not yet expired.
My recolection is that JMS didn't seem happy about the other stuff either,
but that the parking permit was singled out for special attention.

Also, I don't know to whom the slate belonged. For all I know,
directors might use their own clap boards.

To be precise, it was the actor who played Calenn in "Atonement" and it
was me who turned him in. ;D Actually, the script was a marginal
infraction -- it was the fact that he was ALSO offering photographs of
himself AND other actors in the make-up room as well as a parking pass
to the studio grounds that was the real problem.

If that wasn't ok, why

'cause Copeland was producer of the series and the board was "his"?

Ah, that is a different kettle o' fish.

Well, my reasoning was that if they let the actor keep the script, it was his
as much as the director's slate was Copeland's, so he should be able to do
with it as he wished. But I didn't know about the other stuff.

Joe has much more important stuff to do than act as a "gopher" for you! Why
don't you call e-bay yourself? Did you ever consider that it may be sold by
now??

The slate was listed on ebay and the Babylon 5 website (www.thestation.com)
for 7 days prior to the auction end. JMS was just posting so others that
don't visit the station or ebay might have a chance to bid on it.
personally I'm glad others couldn't bid. You see I'm the new lucky owner of
the slate and John Copeland signed it in silver for me.
