Mild spoilers below for No Surrendur, No Retreat, In the Beginning and Ruling
>From the Tomb...

It was mentioned in "Ruling" that one of the victims of the doomsday cultists
was Captain Jankowski (or did I mishear it?) of the EA Destroyer Furies... Now,
this is kind of wierd. If I remember correctly, Jankowski was the one who
started the Earth-Minbari War when he fired on the Grey Council's ship (ItB).
The Furies was one of the ships that surrendured to Sheridan in the battle for
Proxima III (NS, NR). Was this intentional? If it was, cool. There aren't
enough references to B5 in Crusade, and adding this made me grin like hell. Too
bad for Jankowski, though... if he surrendured, then maybe he'd changed from
that rat-bastard gung-ho idiot from ItB. I don't have NS, NR recorded, so I
could be wrong about him being the captain... anyone want to confirm?

I don't think that was him, considering that he commited suicide shortly
after the beginning of the EM war (This was mentioned in the ItB
novelization)

I've stuck Jankowski's all OVER the place. Dunno why, figure the family got
big in the military, just did it.

Also, I'm quite sure that the person mentioned in Ruling was Mankowski not
Jankowski.

COnfirmed. I also heard -- and saw on closed-caption dialogue --
"Mankowsky".

LOL, apparently I stand corrected. It was Jankowski and not Mankowski after
all.

aside from JMS popping in and comfirming that it's Jankowski, i would warn that
CC is NOT the best source to quote. in that same episode, during lt. Carr's
tirade to Lochley, CC had carr quoted as saying "this conference on the DRY
PLANET" instead of, i presume "drakh plague" as that is what we know the
conference was really about. :-)

I assume that he wrote this a long time ago, and I don't expect JMS to
remember every non-consequential name he throws in to his scripts (I have
trouble remembering some of the main characters' names sometimes, such as...
uhm... I forgot that guy's name... :*) What I heard was Mankowski, even
before I turned on the CC :*)

I just went back to check, and alas for JMS believing it was Jankowski,
Gideon said Mankowski. Maybe JMS *wrote* Jankowski, but Gary Cole said it
Mankowski?
Gideon mentioned J/Mankowski had been captain of the _Furies_, which was
seen in B5's "No Surrender, No Retreat". I remember that _Furies_ remained
non-combatant during civil war action, but don't recall if we saw its
captain or heard his/her name mentioned, and who knows if J/Mankowski was
the *same* captain after the (in)action _Furies_ chose to take in NSNR.

well, i have 2 possible ideas <g>

A) JMS REALLY needs that nap afterall :-)

B) you're right about JMS writing it...but cole saying it...

ok, i lied, i have 3 ideas. but one of them was really your idea anyways, so
maybe i'm not lying. :-)

C) the embarassment of having a death cultist in his ships crew, and him not
knowing, lead *J*ankowski to enter the Drazi Witness Protection Program.
however, since the Drazi aren't too bright, their plan for protection included
making him *M*ankowski, and making him an EA captain <g>

gotta admit, that simple 1 letter change sure does throw everyone off, look
what it's done to this Group! ;-)

<snip>

isn't snipping fun? :-)

and now, for something completely different...

anyone notice, during the rerun today of Voices of Authority, how much the
Sigma957 Walkers "jump points" look like the ACtA/crusade jump points? it
almost looks like the FX is a fusion of the regular JP/G FX with the 957 FX.
wait a second, THAT's the "big secret" JMS was hinting at!! Max is really a
Sigma 957 Walker!!!! and THAT explains the "renegade rangers" thing too! TNT
got "Sigma 957 Walker" with "Walker Texas Ranger"(which JMS worked on?), and
since Sigma957 Walkers all left the galaxy, Max must be a RENEGADE!! i solved
the entire mystery of TNT advertisng AND the FX differences, in ONE post! :-)
i'm on a streak of brilliance tonight!
