Even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious, if you say it
loud enough, you always sound precocious,
supercalifragilisticexpialidocious...........

Ok, so I'm in an odd little mood tonight. Great episode, really. This is
what I have been waiting for the show to become. After all, the first
ep, was, well, the first ep. Exposition, new characters, dumb
confrontations for confrontations sake. Not bad, but not great either,
and not going to help lure new fans or get a network to pick you up. The
Long Road was fun, but not outstanding. Again, not much there to lure in
non-B5 fans, but fun for those of us who do get it.

But Well of Forever was different. You didn't really need to know who
these characters were to get it. This is the episode you could show to
new fans and successfully win them over. It had some decent time with
all the main characters, great intereaction between Gideon and Dureena,
Dureena and Galen, and Galen and Gideon. We also finally got to see what
some of the concessions were for teeps to work with normals, great
stuff. I bet TNT doesn't realize that was pretty darn close to a rape
scene, which seems to be the sort of thing they want, but they want the
flesh to go along with it.

Have I mentioned how awesome Peter Woodward has been in these past three
episodes? He really out did himself in this one, just a stunning
performance. The subtle surprise and hurt on his face when he was
eavesdropping on Dureena and Gideon was inspired. I've got a new
favorite character, and he wears leather pants (thank you costume
designers).

I nearly fell out of my chair not once but twice. Once was when the
space jellyfish mistook the Excalibur for a mate, and second, when Galen
could barely sit down on Dureena's extremely short furniture. The
balance of levity, and drama was awesome, and to mix in loyalty and
trust issues perfect. The cast really seemed to be clicking on this
episode, now I know what David Allen Brooks was talking about when he
mentioned the chemistry of the cast, and how he would love to get back
to work because of it.

All in all, if this is what the rest of the eps are like, or are close
to being like, TNT is just has no brains whatsoever, it's the only
explanation I can come up with. I am going to go back and watch it again
right now, who cares if it is nearly 2am.

Max Eilerson doesn't seem to possess quite the same level of awe and
wonder of Galen, and thus provides a cynical counterpoint to Galen's
wizardry:

"So you have a magic rock
that provides you with a mystical place
that is a metaphorical book
that gives you answers to questions that we haven't asked yet,
and you want us to spend days in hyperspace based on THAT?"

Gotta love it! I just hope he turns out to be right *some* of the
time, and not just a convenient naysayer and IPX stooge.

Actually, one of the annoying things about Max is that he IS right more often
than he's wrong. I think it's a nice combination.

This is reminiscent of G'Kar during season 2, when he has burned all
his bridges, and no one will listen to him, even though he was right
on almost all of the big issues: the return of the shadows, the
futility of revenge against the Centauri, etc.

It will be interesting to see how (and if) Max transforms.
