I know you've said that episodes 1 through 13 are pretty much stand-alone
episodes. Does the following order (that TNT is going to air them in) match
your intended viewing order? Wasn't Racing the Night originally going to
air first? If so, how can it work in spot #9? Some episodes must make
reference to what happened in previous episodes, right?

Air Date Ep# Prod# Title
99/06/09 1 108 War Zone
99/06/16 2 107 The Long Road
99/06/23 3 106 The Well of Forever
99/06/30 4 109 The Path of Sorrows
99/07/07 5 110 Patterns of the Soul
99/07/14 6 111 Ruling from the Tomb
99/07/21 7 112 The Rules of the Game
99/07/28 8 113 Appearances and Other Deceits
99/08/04 9 103 Racing the Night
99/08/11 10 102 The Memory of War
99/08/18 11 101 The Needs of Earth
99/08/25 12 104 Visitors from Down the Street
99/09/01 13 105 Each Night I Dream of Home

Because Racing the Night was set a few months into the mission, there's no
problem with setting it at #9 in the broadcast order.

There is only on continuity glitch that gets through, because Patterns was
going to be aired some time after one of the first five in particular was
aired...but that got changed with the shorter order.

Otherwise it pretty much parses.

Which one of the first five was Patterns going to be aired after? I'm not
asking for any details of the continuity glitch, just the proper episode
order so I can put them on tape in the correct sequence.

Also, thanks for "The Long Road", a GREAT second episode. I'm writing some
letters to the Sci-Fi Channel and sponsors today. I'm not going to write to
TNT, and I'm not going to speak of TNT in any of my letters because I'm
trying to keep the letters 100% positive, diplomatic and professional.
Thinking of TNT causes me to get angry and swear a blue streak. After the
13th episode of Crusade airs, I'm deleting TNT from my VCR. I already have
every Babylon 5 episode on tape, and by that time I'll have all 13 Crusade
episodes on tape. After that, I'd prefer to not be aware of TNT's
existence.

Currently, I'm letting my non-cable friends borrow my Babylon 5 and Crusade
tapes IF I have an extra copy or already have the episode on LaserDisc (have
all of Season 1 & 5, and first 6 of Season 2, so far). I have both Babylon
5 calendars, and the Crusade schedule prominently posted in my office at
work, and people are always asking about the shows.

Anyone know if "The Long Road" will be aired again this summer?

Certainly not "this summer". No matter what happens, I don't foresee
any rerun for a long time.

Drat! I missed it too. Both times. Was hoping that TNT might rerun the eps at
least once. (Beyond the Monday night rerun that is!) Anyone got a spare
copy?????????

SPOILERS through "The Memory of War"

Okay, let's count continuity glitches which have been created by the
re-ordering......

1. "Call to Arms" is November 2266 (the fifth anniversary of the
Alliance). "War Zone" (prod 108, aired first) begins immediately
after "Arms." "The Memory of War" (prod 102, air 10) states that
they are "four months" into the mission. So that's around March
2267. But "Ruling from the Tomb" (prod 111, aired 6) is explicitly
dated June 15, 2267.

2. The 48-hour immunity was invented in "Memory", but used in
"Patterns of the Soul" (prod 110, air 5). This is probably the
continuity problem JMS referred to a couple months ago:

3. Galen is really distant in the "later" episodes, and much more
friendly in the "earlier" ones. This isn't actually "impossible", but
it just feels wrong. Gideon reminds Galen that "you said we were
your family" in "The Long Road" (prod 107, air 2). That sure seems
odd in the second episode. (For that matter, everything about the
episodes aired 2,3,4,5,6 felt like it should be later in the series:
the way the characters knew each other, Eilerson's "rehabilitation"
before we had been taught to hate him, etc.)

4. Same with the Apocalypse Box. We "finally" learn something
about it in "Path of Sorrows" (prod 109, air 4), _before_ we are
given teasing glimpses of it in "Racing" and "Memory". Again, a
dramatic continuity problem, not a logical one.

We can't revert to the original order, since the "new uniforms" were
introduced in "Appearances and Other Deceits" (prod 113, air 8). But
I suggest the following re-ordering as the closest we can get to the
"right" order:

99/06/09 1 108 War Zone (recruiting crew)

99/07/28 8 113 Appearances & Other Deceits (new uniforms)

99/08/04 9 103 Racing the Night (dead world)
99/08/11 10 102 The Memory of War (immunity created, 3/67)
99/08/18 11 101 unseen episode
99/08/25 12 104 unseen episode
99/09/01 13 105 unseen episode

[return to old uniforms]

99/06/16 2 107 The Long Road (dragon)
99/06/23 3 106 The Well of Forever (galen bad)
99/06/30 4 109 The Path of Sorrows (galen sad)
99/07/07 5 110 Patterns of the Soul (immunity used)
99/07/14 6 111 Ruling from the Tomb (joan of mars, 6/67)
99/07/21 7 112 The Rules of the Game (visit to b5)

[then continue with new episodes......]

Any objections?

Nope we can just assume that a fed up Gedion changed things back between
episodes off camera. Liveable and it works better.
