1) Q: What is alt.teens?

A: Alt.teens is an unmoderated newsgroup for the discussion of teens
themselves and the issues relating to teenagers.

2) Q: What kinds of posts are acceptable in alt.teens?

A: Any sort of posts dealing with teens or teen issues are acceptable.
However, posts that violate Usenet policies are unacceptable, for
instance "Make Money Fast!" posts, even if they're being posted by
teens, as these posts are unacceptable in any newsgroup. Any other
rules of standard Usenet policy extend to alt.teens as well. You
should try to follow proper netiquette when posting, one of the
main rules to remember is that any message meant for only one
individual should be sent via private e-mail. If you must flame
someone, do it by e-mail.

3) Q: Are pen pal ads acceptable in alt.teens?

A: Pen pal ads are discouraged because there are other newsgroups
for pen pal ads by teenagers, soc.penpals and alt.kids-talk.penpals
for example. It would be more appropriate to post your ad to
those newsgroups.

4) Q: What should I do if someone makes an off-topic post to alt.teens?

A: Send them a message by PRIVATE E-MAIL, explaining to them why
their post was off-topic, and either include a copy of this FAQ,
or give them the URL. DON'T PUBLICALLY FLAME THEM! In the past,
many regular posters in alt.teens felt it necessary to publically
flame individuals who posted off-topic. Don't do this, if you
really feel the need to flame them, do it in e-mail, not in the
newsgroup.

5) Q: What should I do if someone repeatedly makes off-topic posts
to alt.teens?

A: If you've tried to explain to someone that they're posting
off-topic but they refuse to listen, write a letter to their
postmaster (postmaster@<insert person's domain here>), explaining
the situation, and asking that they educate their user about
netiquette.

5) Q: Why are their 2 FAQs for alt.teens?

A: There was another FAQ for alt.teens written by k...@pmddata.no (KEN),
but his FAQ and his behavior were both clearly in violation of Usenet
policy, and because of this behavior, his postmaster closed his
account. If you see the FAQ written by Ken on a website, inform
the site owner that the FAQ has been updated, and refer them to
my URL.

6) Q: Where can I find this FAQ on Usenet?

A: This FAQ is posted monthly to alt.teens, alt.answers, and
news.answers.

7) Q: Where can I find this FAQ via FTP?

A: rtfm.mit.edu /pub/usenet/news.answers/alt-teens

8) Q: How can I get this FAQ by e-mail?

A: Send email to mail-...@rtfm.mit.edu with this phrase in the body
of your message:

send usenet/alt-teens

9) Q: Where can I find this FAQ on the WWW?

A: http://www.angelfire.com/pages0/altteens/index.html
