one of the few knocks on this unit is the lack of GPRS.

I read on my-communicator.com that GPRS will be in version 6.1 of the
operating system.

Does anyone know for sure if the 9290 symbian (sp?) operating system is up
gradeable. Is the system on flashable ROM?

Thanks,

Scott

I would also like to know about this. Because you cannot use voicestreams
GPRS features with this phone!

It already is. Symbian 6.1 was implemented in new Nokia 7650 - and it
supports GPRS and Bluetooth.

Nokia 9210 / 9290 will NOT be upgradeable to 6.1. 6.1 OS with Crystal UI
(used in 9200 series) simply doesn't exist.
There will be a new model with GPRS support in 2003.

So that means buy the 2 year warrany for $100 from compusa. And when the
new model comes out make sure your 9290 happens to break? :-)
