Announcing the release of Blowfish, a backgammon match analyser tool based
on GNUBG. It can read matches in most text formats (eg. Jellyfish (MAT),
FIBS Oldmoves, Gamesgrid (SGG), Gammonline (TXT), BGBlitz, BGX.

Runs on any 32-bit version of Windows, although if you don't have a fairly
recent version you may have to download and install Visual Basic 6 runtime.

Download from briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/bgpaladin

The download is 3mb+. Unzip to any directory (I suggest the default of
Blowfish_ and run Blowfish.exe. See help icon for rudimentary help in HTML
format. Alternatively, use a web browser to look at
C:\Blowfish\Help\Default.htm.

Merry Christmas and I hope you enjoy it. Its taken me 18 months so far, and
is still something of a "work in progress".

Feel free to email any questions, comments, bug-reports etc. to
bgpa...@yahoo.com.au. So far, it has only had an airing in the GNU
backgammon development forum. I think its now ready for its final public
beta.

Regards,
Mike

So did I - even when I logged in with my YahooID.

Too bad... it worked for me.
This is a nice program although a little buggy. The cube doesn't show on my
graphic board and I can't get batch analysis to work (if it is supposed to).
Everything else seems great although I have to monkey with some files and
filenames to get them to load.
As expected GNU finds Snowie and JellyFish brilliant in checker play but
alomost useless (Novice/Beginner) with the cube.
I like this a lot and if the bugs are sorted it should be very useful. It
is good to get another opinion on the big two programs.
I look forward to Tony Lezard completing his version of the Dueller which
will play GNU against the others.

The program has handled all files I've thrown at it. If you have some it
cannot decipher, please send me a copy.

For batch analysis to work, you first need to rollout (or batch eval) the
file. See help icon for more info.

The cube shows only for values 2+.

You should not have to change any file names. By the way, you need to put
them in the C:\BLOWFISH\MATCHES directory (or sub-directory within). It does
not have to be installed to C:\BLOWFISH. but the MATCHES sub-directory must
be there.

Hope this helps and I appreciate any feedback / bug reports. Its been fairly
stable for me for a couple of months now.

Regards,
Mike

Whoops! It seems the traffic to my briefcase has been too high. Try again in
a day or two or send me an email. I can send a Lite version (excluding
bearoff database, which you can get from the GNUBG site), which is 1mb
instead of 4mb.

Mike
