It depends on your definition of all the time I suppose. I know recently
there was Bardot chat. I'm not an AOL member, but on the ad you can clearly
see Bardot on the page.

AOL isn't as famous here but in the US they are thought of as the morons
of the internet, so incompetent that they need the internet spoon fed to
them by a giant corporation.

How is it different from all the chats with famous people that go on all

Rather, it's "I get to watch other people chat with famous people all
the time".

(Then again, I've had follow-ups from Dennis Ritchie to some of my
postings to alt.folklore.computers :)

Don't you hate it when you see them with a little booth set up in the middle
of a mall, selling AOL starter kits to poor unsuspecting bastards.

I scorn them as I would scorn a Scientologist.

I see the boothes (sp?), but I have NEVER actually seen anyone approach the
AOL person for information on the service. The only interraction I've seen
with one of the salespeople is the occasional nerd walking past laughing at
them.

Well, how about, I'd much rather use a "normal" ISP without all that AOL

Because the registered name in Australia is AOL.

America On-Line only own 33% of AOL
AAPT own 33%
and Network 7 own 33%

Network 7 only purchased their stake 5 or 6 weeks ago. Previously it wa
50/50 between AOL and AAPT

Because AOL users are the sort of people who get attracted to "That AOL

'Nuff said.

There was a bloke on one of the technical web authoring groups a couple of
years back I think it was, a WebTVer.

He posted in HTML, top-posted, was extremely arrogant, and kept pointing
any newbie he saw to his "kewl tutes" - 100kb two webpages he'd set up
explaining various different "techniques" to do stupid things (page
transitions, background gradients, prevent visited link colour showing up,
etc.), and giving special hacks that would only work in WebTV, the "wave
of the future".
