Automatic MSMQ setup on Windows 2000 Professional?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows a way of setting up MSMQ
on a Windows 2000 Pro system assuming the machine is part
of a workgroup, not a member of a domain.

We have an existing application that makes use of private
MSMQs and runs on Windows 2000 Professional. In the past,
we had control of the hardware and were able to set up
MSMQ when setting up the machine.

Now we are planning to move to a hardware independent
solution. My understanding is that MSMQ is not set up by
default when installing Windows 2000. A user has to go to
Add/Remove Windows Components to set up MSMQ.

Is there a way to perform the setup without requiring a
user to go to Add/Remove Windows components? I want our
setup program to check whether MSMQ is installed on the
system, and if not, somehow configure the user's system
automatically.

Using sysocmgr should get you where you want to go. This can perform an
unattended install for you.

See the Windows 2000 Advanced Server Help file for info on exactly how to
do this.
