Hello, I have a task to modify Opera accept header to include mine.

To verify, I visit here
http://tools.blueyonder.co.uk/browse.phtml

Currently, I have
Accept: text/html, image/png, image/jpeg, image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, */*

So, what file/registry do I modify to add 1 more entry? I need to do this
for both Windows and Mac.
Thanks.

You can edit this setting in Opera6.ini when Opera is not running,
under

[Adv User Prefs]

Mine currently looks like

HTTP Accept=text/xml, application/xml, application/xhtml+xml,
text/html;q=0.9, text/plain;q=0.8, video/x-mng, image/png, image/jpeg,
image/gif;q=0.2, text/css, */*;q=0.1

("borrowed" from Gecko)

Keep it all on one line, and seperate entries with a comma. The ;q=n.n
qualifiers are optional, but make sure to end your entry with */*

Ick. Ads, scrolling crud...

To get the same information without the cruft, go to

http://tntluoma.com/php/ua.php

or use the websniffer at http://webtools.mozilla.org/web-sniffer/

(note: the later was just added to the 'searchme' sidebar which you can
find at the sidebar URL in my .sig)

What entry do you want to add?

I have been playing around with this some WRT application/xhtml+xml and
have stumbled across a few obscure bugs.

Hi, thanks for the tip.

Does your original Opera6.ini come with the "HTTP Accept" setting? Mine
doesn't (fresh install), which means I have to add it by myself.
But it appears that if I add mine (and only mine), it will remove the
existing:

text/html, image/png, image/jpeg, image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, */*

Tricky...

Also, I don't find the equivalent .ini file on Mac. Do you know where, if
any?
Thanks a lot.

It is not there by default

Not at all... Opera is just letting you over-ride the default, rather
than trying to guess if you wanted to prepend or append your choices to
the default.

HTTP Accept=text/xml, application/xml, application/xhtml+xml,
text/html;q=0.9, text/plain;q=0.8, video/x-mng, image/png, image/jpeg,
image/gif;q=0.2, text/css, */*;q=0.1

works well and you can edit it to include all of the originals.
