This is to advise those Romanians that when Canada hosts them at its
universities, they are not to piss on the carpet with their homegrown racist
bile. Below is an email which had been sent to the Head of the Computer
Science Dept of the University of British Columbia and also sent to all the
faculty of North American Universities where the Romanian graduate student,
Marius Laza, had worked with associates. Those associates were quite diverse
and was prudent to inform them of Mr Laza's racist inclinations, as to
whether they would wish to colaborate with the like of such an individual.
This is called freedom of speech. Nothing here censors Mr Laza. He is free
to pontificate his poison all he wants, and others are free to disseminate
their opinions of Mr Laza's poisons. Freedom of speech is wonerful when it
sabotages the careers of racist assholes.
I'd advise all Romanians on this newsgroup to inform their compatriot youth
to keep their racist attitudes to themselves when they step outside their
Homeland.

Dear Mr Robert J. Woodham and Computer Science Faculty members & associates
Below are three published remarks made by Marius Laza of the Theory Group of
the Computer Science Department of the University of British Columbia. Mr
Laza, who came to Canada from Romania 6 years ago to continue his education,
utilized the computer services of the University of British Columbia to
broadcast the exampled racist, anti-Semitic remarks onto the internationally
public Usenet newsgroups.
It is one thing for Mr Laza to utilize the internet services of a private
ISP at his own expense, but quite another to utilize the taxpayer-funded
university ISP to spread his racist anti-Semitic remarks.
The University of British Columbia has a reputation around the world as
providing a high quality of education to a wide diversity of students of all
ethnicities/nationalities/religions from Canada and abroad. When Mr Laza
utilizes a publicly-funded ISP to spread such racist commentary it reflects
on the university as well as on Mr Laza.
Surely a graduate computer student of the University of British Columbia is
not ignorant of the workings of the Usenet Newsgroups, that these are open
to the public to read. Mr Laza knew what he was publishing and knew that the
University of British Columbia e-mail tag was there to be seen by all, but
his racist passions exceeded the courtesy and common sense to refrain from
such odious commentary.
I recommend that you surf to www.dejanews.com and enter "marius laza" into
the search engine. You will be able to bring up the three samples I
reproduce below, but also many other postings by the same author. Some
postings are in Romanian, the author's mother tongue, and I have been
advised that they contain similar remarks about "ungari" (Hungarians),
tigani (Roma/Gypsies) among others.
Mr Laza should be well-advised by university authorities that such racist
anti-Semitic remarks are grossly inconsistent with the respect that should
be accorded towards the host, the University of British Columbia, the host
country, Canada, because it violates the central credo of this country,
respect for ethnic/national/religious diversity.
His anti-Semitic remarks on the soc.culture.jewish public board earned
several admonishments from offended Jews. The same with his unpleasant
postings on the other public fora.
I trust you will take the most appropriate action to ensure that such abuse
of the University of British Columbia ISP does not occur again and that Mr
Laza is informed that such racist, anti-Semitic commentary via the UBC ISP
is unwelcome.
On June 29, 2001, Marius Laza published, via the University of British
Columbia computer/internet system, the following racist remarks about
Gypsies (Roma) in Canada on the internationally public newsgroup board:

Piata centrala din orasul francez Choisy-le-Roy este un loc pestrit unde
localnicilor le placea sa vina sa-si faca cumparaturile. De aproape un an insa,
ei se confrunta cu problemele create de tiganii romani care s-au instalat in
niste cladiri care urmeaza a fi demolate si terorizeaza localnicii.
In piata din Choisy-le-Roy domneste un sentiment de insecuritate, atit in
rindul vinzatorilor, cit si al cumparatorilor, din cauza furturilor repetate,
insultelor si agresiunilor. Ultimul incident a avut loc doar cu citeva zile in
urma, cind o comercianta a fost jefuita in plina zi. Femeia, care vinduse mere,
a fost atacata de un grup de trei indivizi, care au pindit momentul cind s-a
apucat sa-si numere banii. Unul dintre agresori a imbrincit-o, iar complicii
i-au furat banii si telefonul. Femeia a facut imediat plingere la comisariat,
dar acum se teme sa-si mai parcheze camioneta linga linia ferata, deoarece
familiile de tigani locuiesc in cladirile parasite din aceasta zona. Localnicii
ii acuza pe acesti "romani hoti", care vin sa cerseasca, sa fure din cosuri si
de pe tarabe, sau sa schimbe saci intregi cu monede, marea majoritate furate.
La inceputul acestui an, 1000 de localnici au semnat o cerere adresata
primarului, prin care solicitau prezenta politiei in piata. De trei luni,
politistii patruleaza in zona, dar numarul lor este prea mic pentru a face fata
valului de delicte comise de tiganii romani. Primaria este constienta de
problemele create de acestia si se pregateste sa dicteze expulzarea lor, masura
fiind extrem de asteptata de localnici.
Exista si francezi care ii apara pe tigani
Intr-un mod cu totul inexplicabil insa, la Choisy-le-Roy si la Orly, unde se
afla, de asemenea, imigranti ilegali din Romania, s-a format un Comitet de
sustinere a familiilor de romani*, organizatia declarindu-se "nelinistita" de
amenintarea cu expulzarea care planeaza asupra acestora. Tiganii romani
locuiesc de mai multe luni ilegal in imobilele destinate demolarii. Tribunalul
le-a dat termen de trei luni sa paraseasca locuintele, dupa care, in caz ca nu
se vor conforma deciziei, urmeaza a fi expulzati. Comitetul insa se opune
oricarei expulzari si cere prefectului regiunii sa nu puna in practica decizia
tribunalului "pentru ca aceste familii s-ar trezi in strada fara nici o solutie
pentru problema locuintei".

I don't know anything about Mr. Moses Rosen dificulty to attract Jewish
people
from Romania to emigrate in Israel.I have two jewish friends who went there
but
only one decided to stay , the other one is in London England. I asked him
why he moved to England and he told me that Israel is a very unsure country
and he does not want to see his childrens killed , sad but true.
Now about the Jewish population in Romania :
As you know (or maybe you dont) there was a war in Europe. Durring that war
Romania at the begining joined the Axis (Germany Italy and Japan) and the
goverment
at the time was af pro-nazi orientation. There where some masacres (pogrom)
against the
Jews and according to some sources hundreds of people where killed. This is
a black page in Romanian
History book and there are no excuses for what happend then.
But... in the same time among the Romanian Jewish the ideea of going to
Palestine to make their own state
to avoid persecution was very popular.
Antonescu , the Romanian dictator, was more inclined to leave the jews to
go in Palestine and to
avoid a bloodbath like the ones in Germany , Hungary , Italy ,Croatia and
the other states
who where allied with the germans.
The Jews from Romania where among the first who started the struggle for
Israel.
In Tel-Aviv you will hear peoples speaking in Romanian , they have papers
and radio stations
in Romanian.They do not hate the Romanians and I met some of them who came
back to visit their
homeland, and I say Homeland because they still refer to Romania as Home.
This is one of the reasons you will not find too many Jewish people living
in Romania today.
Another reason is that many Jews actually like to live there and see no
