Whereas commercial airlines are a prime vector of such physically
infectious agents as tuberculosis, AIDS and Ebola, libraries and
librarians are the ICBM of fast, reliable delivery for the deadly
infections known as "memes" -- the parasitic viruses of the mind.

When the TB germ circulating within an airtight airline cabin can
hope to replicate itself only among a flight crew and the holiday
travelers given over to the always risky, nay, foolhardy practice
of breathing, meanwhile cultural and scientific memes lurking in
libraries are sure to infect entire nations with the psychorhagic
consequences such as totalitarian Communism or democratic freedom
or Vingean Singularity, based on the Meme of Mentifex Mind-making
which has recently infected the World Wide Web so feverishly that
you, too, may catch the Mentifex Meme from the nearest librarian:

Is it just me, or does the rest of comp.speech also believe that
Mr. "Arthur T. Murray" and his continual postings of "the great
librarian conspiracy will soon take over the world" or "Poland
is great!" would be more ay home on alt.kooks or alt.conspiracy?

p.s. although I do have a very high opinion of Poland, I
neither need nor want "Arthur T. Murray" as my spokesperson!

The enlightened netizenry of comp.speech deserve this explanation
of why the phenomenon of mentifex has linked libraries to Speech.

We need the crucially important librarians on our side if we plan
to nudge the bourgeois world into a cybernetic economy of machine
intelligence. Think, o experts in the synthesis and recognition
of vocalized mentation, of this your chance to raise the standard
of living for all human beings. Be mindful, o privileged priests
of high technology, that you hold the fate of Earth in your work.
