Open this URL which includes 15 links related
to antediluvian high-cultures -- the "A" word:

http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=X5EH75IX3725...@anonymous.poster

You'll notice that several of these links are
linked to binary files, in this case, "jpegs":

http://www.geocities.com/Area51/6683/map-piri-reis-big.jpg
http://www.geocities.com/Area51/6683/map-piri-reis-redraw.jpg
http://www.geocities.com/Area51/6683/map-o-f.jpg
http://www.geocities.com/Area51/6683/map-mercator.jpg
http://www.geocities.com/Area51/6683/map-buache.jpg
http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/image/2minsurface/1350/45N090W.jpg

You'll notice that the "geocities" links take
you to a commercial spam-vertising window that
claims something like: "page is not available."
"We're sorry, but this page is currently un-
available for viewing"..."Pulling files from
your GeoCities account to a location outside
of Yahoo! GeoCities, such as auction sites,
message boards, and other web sites..."
"Using GeoCities for commercial purposes."

In other words, these binary files are in fact
available, but geocities wants webbrowsers to
load commercial spam-vertising (unless you're
using an anti-spam program like PopUp Killer)
any time you open any item linked over their
domain. Linked binaries no longer bypass the
spam-vertising, and so unwary websurfers are
confronted with "multiple choice" diversions
along with the unwanted commercial spamverts.

Other "spam" domains are doing this also, not
just geocities. The solution to all of this
is to copy the URL into the main URL address
field of your web browser... and voila! The
binary file (jpg, gif, zip, exe, etc.) will
download normally as you would expect it to,
and you miss out on all that spam-vertising!
(see freeware link below to kill spam-verts)

Apparently, there's no way for geocities et
al to prevent binary files posted over their
domains from loading normally when using the
direct download. It's only when spamvertising
commercial sites see that the binary file in
question is being linked from another domain,
then that is the *only* way they can stop that
binary from being downloaded. Again, just copy
and paste the binary link into the main address
field and you can avoid all such inconveniences;
that is, unless the file is no longer available
i.e., the file has been removed from the server,
in which case the file actually *is* unavailable
with pronounced emphasis on the true dictionary
meaning of the word *is* (not what lawyers say).

You'll notice that the final link to a *.gov
domain doesn't use commercial spam-vertising,
and so all binary links open normally in your
browser window simply by clicking on the link
from the archived page on the "google" domain.
Thus you see it isn't google, but is geocities
who are trying to prevent binaries from being
linked from any other domains on the internet,
obviously to promote commercial spamvertising.

Just remember to copy & paste the link into
the main address field to download binaries
from commercial spam-vertising domains, etc.

Enjoy!

Careful, your troll record is showing.

Looks like " Spamster " likes to use " X-No-Archive " to make his trolls disappear. Looks like " 13,200 Spamsters " still there.

Looks like 1000 new " Spamster " trolls you added in a month. Looks like
you need " X-No-Archive. " You're like a busy " worker-bee " troll.
