A couple things:

The accusation that no native Japanese ever work for Vince will be
answered on the syndies next week with the debut of a 505-pound former
Sumo wrestler named Yakazuma. Who is this guy? He looks huge, but you
know his workrate will be pretty damn near zero. Who can wait for Vince
to hook him up with Tenta for some kind of sumo angle?
Speaking of native Japanese, don't be surprised if speculation naming
Kensuke Sasaki as Masa Chono's choice for referee at HH '92 turns out to be
true. Sasaki is scheduled to begin appearing at WCW house shows right
after Havoc, so the timing would be perfect. He may have even worked the
TV tapings Monday, but there's no real word on that yet.
And what is this "King of Cable" thing coming in November that they keep
advertising on WCW? Is this the theme for the next Clash of Champions?
Having an annual tournament to crown a "King of Cable" wouldn't be a bad idea
IMHO.
And finally IMO the most fascinating thing going on in North American
wrestling right now is the seeming chaos in the WWF. Think about all of
the bad luck that has hit Vince in the past few weeks:

* Cancelation of a string of house shows (unheard of during the Vince
Jr. era).
* Ric Flair no-showing house shows. Whatever the reason, it can't be good
news. Dave Scherer mentioned that he spoke to Dutch Mantell last week, and
Dutch told him the rumour in the business is that Bret Hart was given the title
because Flair has come down with Vertigo, a severe inner-ear disorder causing
dizziness, nausea, headaches, etc. But since I haven't heard that anywhere
else, you can take Dutch's info at face value. An even worse scenario for
Vince would be Flair no showing due to dissatisfaction with his contract.
Either way, there's trouble for Vince with Flair.
* Rumours that Animal has followed Hawk's lead in quitting the WWF. At
any rate, Animal has not been seen on a syndie or at a house show in weeks.
* An injury to Undertaker which seems to incapacitate him for the
Survivor series. It won't look good if Undertaker never gets to wrestle in
the coffin match. Of course, as reported, Vince won't let on that Mark may
never actually wrestle in Survivor series.
* Additional trouble with Typhoon, making it necessary to have the
Disasters drop the straps to Money Inc. on the syndies next week. Since
Typhoon has been no-showing as well, his status for Survivor series and his
future with the Whiff is up in the air.
* Rumours that Ultimate Warrior is unhappy that Hart was given the title.
* Rumours that Vince had to promise Bret Hart a title reign in exchange
for staying with the company. If that's true, Vince seems to be losing
leverage in holding onto his westlers. The same rumour surfaced concerning
DiBiase and the tag team belts.
All in all, I'm thrilled to say that this is probably the lowest point
for the WWF since Vince took over almost a decade ago. I love it.

This rumour has reached here too.

This is FACT.

This is complete FICTION. Bret was not, and DID NOT threaten to jump at any
time. He is quite happy where he is.

.....Yokazuma is Kokina Maximus (he's actually Samoan and either Afa or
Sika's son)

....It is just going to be a regular tournament (similar to the Nintendo Power
Tournament from this summer) with matches shown on the syndies and
TBS shows during Nov. sweeps. I believe they are also going to have
an arm wrestling tournament.

The next Clash will be headline by Simmons vs. Atlas.

....Flair received the injury after UW hit him with a potato shot in a match
a couple weeks ago.

> * Rumours that Animal has followed Hawk's lead in quitting the WWF. At
>any rate, Animal has not been seen on a syndie or at a house show in weeks.

....Animal has been filling in for the Undertaker at the house shows. They ran
a trial on the European tour with him and Crush as the new L.O.D. I
guess it went over pretty well but the idea has been pretty much scrapped
when they got back to the states. There was also a rumor the Animal is
trying to get a job for his brother (Mark Laurindas aka The Terminator)
as the new man in the L.O.D.

>Disasters drop the straps to Money Inc. on the syndies next week. Since
>Typhoon has been no-showing as well, his status for Survivor series and his

.....Typhoon missed a couple shows because his wife was giving birth but I have
not heard anything of being on his way out.

> * Rumours that Ultimate Warrior is unhappy that Hart was given the title.

.....From what I've heard, UW started up with his big money demands. McMahon
obviously was not happy about it and the UW's future with the company is
cloudy. Because of this, McMahon had to get a babyface over in a hurry
and thus Hart is the new champ.

I have seen references to "potato shots" in the Observer and in RSPW.
What exactly is it?

Enquiring minds need to know.

He is Kokina, a Samoan.

Actually, for a porker, he's not that bad.

Meltzer corraborated it in this week's Observer. Either it's true, or
we both heard the same rumor.

Actually, I would trust anything that Dutch told me. He is a very
honorable man.

Not necessarily.

How would we know the difference? He could work a whole match without
lifting his arm.

Screw him.

Don't believe that, His contract rolled over and he will be there for a
while. No one wants to jump to WCW at this point. I believe he was
given the belt to, at least for now, lead the "new direction."

I would too if WCW was not at a lower point. I have said this before
and will say it again, Don't play The WWF's funeral march yet.

Yokozuna (as he was called on PrimeTime...watch this space for the inevitable
name change) was slated to be "yet another Samoan," and was indirectly
referred to in commentary during the "Samoans" match on PrimeTime last
summer. I don't believe he was mentioned during the "Headhunters" match
about a month later, so the switch took place somewhere along that timeline.

Further conjecture might place this switch on then-departing Berzerker
leaving Fuji with no one to manage (cf. Kato), and rather than see an
opportunity to dump him fast, McMahon found another reason to keep him
around. I guess in this regard, we can admire Vince's dedication to his
loyal workers....nah.
