Zoner.....

Well, it's finally done. The third novel in the Undocumented Features series
is complete and ready to be posted. I will be posting Out In The Cold three
chapters a day on alt.prose, rec.arts.anime, and wpi.students.story over the
next 14 days. OITC is the longest of the three to date and it picks up where
The Long Road (UF2) left off. UF1, 2, and 3 are also available via ftp to
130.215.24.1 cd /anime/FanFiction, there are also stories by several other
net.authors there.

For those who don't know, the UF saga revolves around the Dirty Pair and
several students from WPI. It's sort of an homage and we shamelessly use
characters and events from several different places. UF4 is currently in the
formative stages and it is the last planned novel in the UF universe.

The authors apologize for the long wait, we realize we said it would be out
by the end of May. But life isn't always agreeable and summer didn't help
very much. The story takes another sharp turn this time around, as UF2
diverged from UF1. Life has had its ups and downs over the months we took to
write this, seems like more downs than ups, and some of that shows through in
our work.

Crossroads (UF4) will try to tie up most of the loose ends we have created
in the first 270 or so pages, so you may notice that UF3 leaves some plotlines
hanging. (But UF4 most likely won't tie them all up, where's the fun in that?)

The UF saga is very much a group effort, no matter who wrote what we all
contributed a lot to this universe. I'm glad that ROb was able to join us for
the writing again this time around, we missed him on The Long Road.

So, welcome to our universe, we hope you enjoy the show...

GRYPHON'S INTRODUCTION

Hi campers,
It's been a long time coming and I wish I could say it's good to be
back, but the truth is, like everything else in life, coming back to
Worcester is a mixed blessing at best, and a very bad idea at worst.
I'm not attending school at the moment (my wpi account, in fact,
should be going piff relatively soon, as soon as the Office of the
Registrar figures out I'm not coming back and notifies the Campus
Computing Center of that fact); my only purpose for coming back was to
finish UF before it drove me mad.

(Okay, okay, there was another reason, but that's no longer a factor.
UF is now the only reason I'm here.)

Work on _Out In the Cold_ itself didn't progress much from my end over
the summer; most of the last part of the work is MegaZone's and
ReRob's. My contribution came in for the last couple of chapters,
after we all returned to town. (Actually, ReRob's working co-op in
Hartford right now, so he's only here on the weekends, but I digress.)
However, a gweepning of inspiration during one of our mid-summer
weekend meetings led to the almost-complete sketching/plotting/framing/
whatever you want to call it of _Crossroads: Undocumented Features
Volume Four_, which is to be the conclusion of the whole epic.

So I'll be around at least until _Crossroads_ is finished, and then...
well...I dunno. I think I'll go back to school someplace, preferably
in a state that doesn't begin with the letter M, forget any of this
ever happened, and start over. It's got nothing to do with any of
you, so don't take it personally, but much like Danielle Scott, once
_Crossroads_ is complete, I'm outta here.

So hold onto your seats, boys 'n girls (and those who have not yet
decided), because Eyrie Publishing has brought you a UF section
bigger, better, meaner, nastier, darker, brighter, more violent,
cleaner, 100% all-natural, biodegradable in water, and altogether
kickass.

We guarantee you won't be able to wait for _Crossroads._

Furthermore, now that there aren't any annoying obstacles like summer
in our way, we guarantee you won't have to, at least not for more than
a few months.

Hail Eris! All hail Discordia!
