Results from Arena Coliseo, Mexico City, D.F., broadcast over
Galavision Sunday, May 3, 1992.

News:

Courtesy of Herb, I have the identities of the Japanese women listed
last week as "Mita" and "Aquira" - they are Etsuko Mita and Akira
Hokuto from the All-Japan women's group. Herb says Hokuto is a
particular favorite of his :-) Me, too.

Rudo TV announcer Arturo Rivera has returned to action after a layoff
of several months. No word on where he's been.

Popularity ratings:

Faces Heels Women Midgets
----- ----- ----- -------
1 - Octagon Blue Panther Martha Villalobos Mascarita Sagrada
2 - Conan La Fiera Xochitl Hamada Espectrito

6-Man Tag
---------
1 - Los Brazos
2 - Los Guerrero

First Match:

Enjambre (masked - Mexico), Marabunta (masked - Mexico), and Ponzon~a
(masked - Mexico) (heels) vs. Los Metalicos: Bronce (masked - Mexico),
Plata (masked - Mexico), and Oro (masked - Mexico). Gato Montini and
Pepe Casas (referees). Faces win in straight falls.

Enjambre means "swarm" in Spanish - as in a swarm of bees. Marabunta
doesn't seem to mean anything. I couldn't find it in my Spanish
dictionary, and a native-speaker of Spanish I know says it flat out
isn't a Spanish word.

First Fall: The faces win when all Hell breaks loose and all 3 of them
pin all 3 rudos.

Second Fall: Oro and Bronce use planchas to pin 2 of the rudos while
Plata executes a wild suicide plancha (front flip from the top rope) to
take Ponzon~a out of action. Unfortunately, he hits his head on the
ring just as he hits the floor and is stunned. It looked like he might
be pretty severely injured at first, but he seemed to pretty much come
out of it later.

Second Match:

Los Destructores del Ring: Vulcano (Mexico), Tony Arce (Mexico), and
Roco Valente (Mexico) (heels) vs. Iga (masked - Japan), Koga (masked -
Japan), and Super Astro (masked - Mexico). Pepe Casas and Roberto
Rangel (referees). Faces win 2/3 falls.

First Fall: Iga submits to a double armbar applied by all three heels.

Second Fall: Super Astro pins Tony Arce after hitting him with a flying
headbutt off the top rope.

Third Fall: Super Astro pins all 3 heels in an ultra choreographed spot
that began with Koga and Iga putting a submission hold on one of Los
Destructores, then went to the other two Destructores coming in and
applying a submission hold on Koga and Iga. Unfortunately for the
heels, this was a bow-and-arrow variant, and as they held the Japanese
up in the air, the diminutive Super Astro crawled between the two
factions and got a 3-count.

Third Match:

Los Brazos: Brazo (Mexico), Brazo de Oro (Mexico), and Brazo de Plata
(Mexico) (heels) vs. Volador (masked - Mexico), Angel Azteca (masked -
Mexico), and Misterioso (masked - Mexico) (faces). Roberto Rangel and
Gato Montini (referees). Faces win 2/3 falls.

First Fall: Angel Azteca pins all 3 rudos after Super Porky
accidentally 747s his brothers.

Second Fall: All 3 rudos pins all 3 tecnicos. Highlight was Porky's 747
from the top rope onto poor Volador.

Third Fall: Misterioso pins Bronce after Volador had tilt-a-whirl back
breakered him.

Fourth Match:

Los Intocables: Masakre (Mexico), Jaque Mate (masked - Mexico), and
Pierroth, Jr. (masked - Mexico) (heels) vs. Atlantis (masked - Mexico),
Black Magic (UK), and El Vampiro Canadiense Casanova (Toronto, Ontario,
Canada) (faces). Roberto Rangel and Gato Montini (referees). Heels win
2/3 falls.

First Fall: Masakre and Jaque Mate force Black Magic to submit to a
rack.

Second Fall: El Vampiro Casanova pins Pierroth with a very fancy sunset
flip. Maybe this guy is actually learning to wrestle.

Third Fall: Black Magic pins Jaque Mate with a nice suplex, but for
unknown reasons Gato Montini reverses the decision and counts a 3-count
pin by Pierroth on Atlantis after Pierroth had removed Atlantis' mask.
Note: removing an opponent's mask in Mexico is an instant DQ move.

Anyway, a CMLL commissioner came down to the ring and put a two week
suspension on Montini as a result of this decision. The rudo victory
was allowed to stand.

Not to be crass, but it does look like The Metallic Ones are
developing a finisher, just like finishers that are manadatory for our domestic
wrestlers. The two times I have seen these guys in action, they manage to
end the match with a spectacluar suicide plancha/career threatning injury!
It's a good thing these guys wear masks; they can replace wrestlers without
the audience being the wiser. I mean wow. I'm not used to wrestling having
this much action, but those bumps HAVE gotta hurt!
Not to poke humor at the real-life dangers associated with the physical
aspect of the sport. It's kinda tradgically funny like the drummers from
Spinal Tap, or the workrate of the British Bullfrog.
