I'm trying to upgrade my 5.0.5 to 5.0.6, but the system won't boot from the
5.0.6 boot disk. Instead of coming up with a boot: prompt, it just displays
the letter E across the screen forever.

I can successfully boot to the 5.0.5 boot disk and I have tested the 5.0.6
boot disk on another system successfully.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
DP

This is actually documented in TA #106471.

I would suggest you make a new boot floppy from the installation CD using the
floppy drive on the system you want to boot from. This floppy drive may be
a little bit out of alignment, and will have trouble reading floppies made
on other systems. Or, you could simply spring for a new floppy drive.

That error is indicative of corrupted boot code on the floppy. Try
making a new one from the 5.0.6 CD, there is an image of it in the
images/boot directory along with a readme on how to create the floppy.

Hope This Helps
