More when I get home, but the Purple Pros scored their first crushing
victory over the Black Ink Irregulars on the topic of the work of
Jack Kirby by a margin of 220-85. Pros were Len Wein, Kurt Busiek,
Marv Wolfman, and subbing for the chickening out on the topic of
Kirby :-) Mark Waid, Tom Brevoort. Fans were myself, Jim Drew,
Jim Murdoch, and Tim Lynch.

As mentioned, on this year's Jack Kirby topic, the Purple Pros scored
their first ever convincing victory over the Black Ink Irregulars. Due
to a strange table layout, where the Pros' table and chairs were on a
raised platform and the BII's at floor level with moderator Jim Hay
between us, I'm not sure about my stats for the Pros; in particular,
Tom Brevoort and Marv Wolfman have similar sounding voices.

The final score was Pros (or, as they introduced themselves, the Kirby
Iron Chefs) 220, Irregulars (or, as we introduced ourselves, yancystreet.org)
85. Stats were:

Tossups:
Len Wein 6 correct
Kurt Busiek 5 correct
Tom Galloway 5 correct, 1 incorrect interrupt (-5)
Tom Brevoort 4 correct
Tim Lynch 1 correct
Marv Wolfman 1 correct

Bonuses:
Purple Pros 6 correct, 8 wrong
Black Ink Irregulars 3 correct, 3 wrong

As always, the real fun of the match was all the taunts during and before
it, and the various bad jokes and comments tossed out by both sides (and
occasionally the audience). John Morrow, who also wrote a fair number of
the questions, taped the match and depending on tape quality is planning
to run a transcript in a future issue of the Jack Kirby Collector.
