Dunno why this was an abmp only post...

Upon close inspection, did "The Ernest Experience Radio Show"

Oh, I can. Actually, IIRC, I said the basics of that post in a PPML
post when people were bitching about W&L not being at the Celebration
(though I never guessed it could have been this bad). It fits right in
with his modus operandi.

Read a story in Belgian magazine Humo today, where Raf Winten, a
member of Belgian band Zornik told about his experience with Prince
when he was a limo driver who worked for a concert promotor. His exact
words: "if I ever get to meet him again, I'm gonna kick him in the
nuts so hard they're dangling up here" (pointing to a location about
half a meter above his head). Turns out Prince communicated via notes,
which he gave to his manager who in turn gave it to Raf. Once, when he
was driving Prince from Brussels to Ghent, he received a note saying
"drive faster", to which Raf replied "I can't because there's a speed
limit". But there was no use in arguing, Raf had to accellerate. Of
course, a minute or so after he started driving a lot faster, he
received a new note: "drive slower"...

If only he'd saved those notes, he could be making a fortune on e-Bay
right now.

There's an interview with Brownmark in a book called "Prince: A Pop
Life" by Dave Hill, copywrite 1989. Mark says that Prince was abusive.
From page 189:

"He told me when I first joined the band, he says, 'Don't ever argue
with me. Even if I'm wrong, I'm right.' Those were his exact words. I
went through a lot of head-trips and heartaches. I got brutally,
mentally mutilated by things that were done to me with no
explanation...."

Still only eighteen, just a year out of high school, Brown says he
found the pressures close to impossible. "I was unhappy, and it
started showing in my weight. I started gaining weight and I started
drinking. I used to get drunk every night. There were times when I
cried. I'd call my momma and say 'I wanna come home.' She'd tell me,
'Hang in there.'

"Once I broke a guitar string on stage and he cussed me out in front
of 15,000 people. I remember once we had a head-on collision on stage.
To make him look good and to play it off, he pushed me down on my
back. I got up and he pushed me down again. He drop-kicked me three
times; the last time I ended up half over the drum riser."

Brown accumulated a litany of resentments which culminated in his
resignation from the group. He says that Prince wanted him to
continue, but Brown had had enough. He claims he was broke.

"I didn't have a penny, man. I didn't have a cent."

Oh yeah, I can see a five-foot-two 125-lb muppet drop-kicking someone
with a weight problem . . .

Oops, made a mistake, he isn't a band member but their tour manager.
