Yo discord! I highly recommend the latest version
of xnews l5, available on http://xnews.3dnews.net
and also subscribing to news.software.readers, as
that's where this program is most often discussed.

It's freeware, and has basically every "killfile"
feature that you could ever ask for. These trolls
have been polluting the most popular, unmoderated
newsgroups for years--obviously to discourage any
unwary posters from posting articles, or replying
to articles, or engaging in serious dialogue with
serious authors. You'll notice many of the trolls
get approved for posting to moderated groups, but
"moderators" them-selves are among the trolls. Go
figure. That's obviously their motive, to disrupt
the unmoderated groups, like wrapping a flyer for
new windshields around a brick then breaking some
automobile's windshield in a parking lot with the
aforesaid advert. So when I refer to these people
as liars & criminals, you see that such reference
is not without merit, rather is made self-evident
by examining their, as you say, "trolling record".

I still believe that the most vitriolic of trolls
are in prison working on an early release program
for big brother. That's why they are so desperate.
You see their "point men" step in on occasion, to
help pull the thread off-topic as if to "bury" it
if that were possible. Killfiles are the solution.

These trolls use inappropriate language and worse.
My advise is to use xnews to "score" these trolls
with -9999, so that you can toggle them on or off
any time you like. You'll find this necessary, as
you kill-file 100s of trolls, and their entourage
of sockpuppets, basically any poster who disrupts
your favorite newsgroup, by adding certain header
information that you find in their posts. Thus is
why you'll need to toggle the "> -9999" option by
right-clicking your mouse on the score column (in
the articles window), and select "clear" in order
to temporarily unhide the trolls' messages so you
can debug your score file in case you're "killing"
good posters unintentionally with any conflicting
entries you might discover in your score.ini file.

As your score file grows, the potential for these
conflicts increases. Here's an earlier version of
my score file which I used to post regularly, for
the sake of unwary newcomers, who might otherwise
be scared off by these trolls with their childish
and oft-vitriolic garbage. I discontinued posting
my score file on public newsgroups so that trolls
couldn't use this to their own criminal advantage.
You'll find that the newest xnews has vastly more
kill-file features, than it did back in July 2001:

http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=QZ47VDUJ3709...@frog.gilgamesh.org&output=gplain

Once you've customized your xnews "score" entries,
tested, refined & debugged these entries, then be
sure to reactivate the -9999 in your score column
to "kill" the offending trolls. With practice you
can pretty much eliminate anyone of your choosing.
But as you add more trolls, you'll doubtless need
to debug your score file to avoid needless "kills".
That's why I stopped using the "hardkill" feature.
Whenever I toggle my score file, I'm sure to find
the same old trolls up to their usual shenanigans,
which reminds me of just how effective scoring is.
I couldn't read in the newsgroups without scoring.

Also, if you're using nfilter newsproxy available
on http://www.nfilter.org (it's freeware), you'll
find that xnews works perfectly with it. I prefer
newsproxy for tagging desirable posts with custom
subject headers, so that modified subjects appear
in the xnews window. Nfilter is said to work with
virtually any windows-based newsreader, but you'd
have to try it and see. I do know "nfilter" works
with free agent on http://www.forteinc.com/agent/,
but after using xnews there's no reason to use an
old dinosaur like that. Xnews is much more useful,
and this latest version leaves trolls in the dust.

Happy Killfiling!

The reson we don't care for this ASSHOLES posting is because it NOTHING TO
DO WITH ASTRONOMY, otherwise we'd not give a damm where he posted, but he's
always spreading his CRAP on the newsgroup that is for " A S T R O N O M Y "
. Myself I don't give a rats ass about what he belives in, but I do wish
he'd go someplace else that the Astronomy Newsgroups. He's the one guy, who
if someone was to brake into his home and steal his computer, it would not
bother me at all.

I found this on the Min's page. This guy has got " star lords " pegged.

Shakespere shows to agree.
