PSI Announces Host Dialup Connection Service Plus (HOST-DCS+)

November 11, 1991 - Reston, VA - John T. Eldredge, Director of Sales and
Marketing, Performance Systems International, Inc. (PSI) today announced
a new and enhanced version of the PSI Host Dialup Connection Service
(HOST-DCS) called HOST-DCS+. HOST-DCS+ provides all the same features
and benefits as HOST-DCS including 'on-demand' Internet access through
nationally available local PSI points-of-presence, high speed V.32 and
V.32bis modem support, and works on any PC, Macintosh, NeXT, UNIX or
Xenix machine interfacing with the Serial Line Interface Protocol (SLIP).
HOST-DCS+ allows organizations to have their own permanent IP address and
dedicated phone number to "guarantee" availability and so others on the
global Internet can do file transfers or telnet into a HOST-DCS+ site.
HOST-DCS+ also supports V.42bis compression technology which can provide
up to 38.4 Kbps of throughput depending on traffic and traffic type.
HOST-DCS+ was developed as a result of popular demand by PSI's HOST-DCS
customers. Ted Nadeau, Manager of Customer Support at PSI commented,
"HOST-DCS has been extremely well-received and valuable to many corporations
because of its dialup, low cost capabilities. Two principal customer
requests have been to support V.32bis and a fixed IP address. HOST-DCS+
now addresses these requests, as well as provides a dedicated modem
dialup, "guaranteeing" availability which shared rotaries can't always do."
HOST-DCS+ is available at the flat rate cost of only $250 per month with a
one-time registration fee of $1,000. "As an introductory offer to all
new organizations participating in HOST-DCS+, PSI is extending three free
months of service when an order for 12 months of service is placed by
December 31, 1991. This is a total of 15 months of service for 12," said
John Eldredge.

products to turnkey integration of local area networks into the PSINet wide
area network system and the Internet.
Through the Commercial Internet Exchange (CIX), which PSI co-founded,
commercial US internetworking service providers are interconnected, providing
commercial companies on PSINet with no government restrictions on usage to
other commercial companies participating in the CIX.
