Minneapolis, MN Auction Results Nov. 23, 1996

The MOMA (Minnesota Operators of Music and Amusements) auction for
this year was really nothing out of the ordinary. The auction turn-
out was brimming with it's usual lot of first-time buyers hoping to
purchase a suitable machine for the seemingly never-ending winter
months to come (translation: higher prices for everyone). Overall,
I'd say the games were in fairly decent shape this time -- plenty of
JAMMA-junk conversions, but then again, what mid-western auction
isn't? The lack of pinball games was quite embarassing (absolutely
nothing worth mentioning) as was the sheer number of beer signs that
were sold. All the pool tables were passed over and most of the
decent jukes sold for $150 or more.

The next mid-west auction is being held next weekend in Des Moines
at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. See ya there!

Damn! I paid more than that for boards alone! :{
I guess I should have gone to that auction. :{ I hope the Des Moines
auction in the spring is good!

Sometimes you just gotta ask yourself "Is a plastic frog budweiser
beer sign really worth $100?"

As for classics, not a whole heck of a lot was there, but admittedly,
I don't know the hidden value in most of the games.
I was surprised at one thing: How many games *CAN* you convert a
satan's hollow into?

I think it went for $150 ;-) But it does croak when you plug it in ;-)

There was nothing of value here. Did you notice the Black Widow that was
badly converted? Probably not with the woodgrain sides, and the cammo
mylar stuck on the control panel. P.O.W. marquee is so much cooler than
Black Widow ;-) Oh, for those wondering how I know it wasn't a SD or
Gravitar- I did look at the underside of the control panel :-) (okay, so
it might have been a conversion)

My wife and I got a nice jukebox though! Where's the juke newsgroup! ;-)

It's easy to spot a Gravitar or Space Duel.

Space Duel: 2 speakers on top, 2 speakers under the control panel

Gravitar: 1 speaker on top, 1 under the control panel

Black Widow: AFAIK The dedicated Atari unit has Gravitar side-art underneath
the factory installed BW artwork. Only came from the factory in left-over
Gravitar cabs. (see above)
