It's funny looking up the site registration shows this:

Created On:14-Jan-1999 05:00:00 UTC
Last Updated On:10-Nov-2003 14:45:47 UTC
Expiration Date:14-Jan-2009 05:00:00 UTC <--- She still holds the site name
until January 2009. What's she going to do with it? Auction it off?

Actually a smart move....You know as soon as she signs off, some web freak will
set up another "jennicam" to cash in on her fame, and draw in subscribers who
don't know better. Also, keeps porn sites from linking to her web address. At
least it gives her leverage in case she needs to file lawsuits.

Anyone who tries to "cash in" on Jenni's "fame" is going to quickly
find out that they're about 3 years too late.

I feel a little sorry for Jenni.

In 1998-99 she was being interviewed by everyone, was a guest on the
David Letterman Show, appeared in an episode of a TV show, was a
co-host of a New Years Eve webcast from Times Square, was signing
autographed pictures at an Internet tradeshow, and was raking in
enough money to live very comfortably (including a vintage Porshe, a
new Mustang and a few trips to Europe), without having to do anything
but occasionaly play with herself on camera.

And look where she is now.

Living with a fruit cake.....working in a government office job 9-5

:-) She sure was a hot little number for about 2 years. The collage
years were fun. The little shows....I liked the nurse one the best.

The moment Jenni stopped communicating with those watching and bumped
up the membership fee was the beginning of the end. I can't blame her.
She has a job that consumes much of her time and a
boyfriend/lover/domestic partner who doesn't want to be on the cam
anymore. Add to that Paypal refusing to accept membership and this
camera thing is a done deal. Besides it was getting hard to compete
with the new generation camgirl for viewers. So it is bye-bye Jenni.

For me, Jennicam was over the minute she moved to California. She
managed to get just enough money to get started on being the happy
sappy homemaker and settle down in suburbian hell. As some have
remarked, Jenni stopped being interesting as a person when she stopped
being a celebrity. The old jenni would go out and explore new things.
She had some friends and tried, in her kitschy, to be an online
talkshow host. Once she moved, she remade herself into a boring
grown-up with an equally boring boyfriend who nobody could see
anything special about. Dex was that guy from "Star 80" that had no
place in jennicam and did nothing to further Jenni's celebrity--in
fact took away from it. Ben and Jen they weren't. Too bad Jenni never
realized that celebrity can be extended by finding an equally or more
interesting partner.

Jennifer Ringley is now anonymous like most of us. She now occupies
the same space for those who were on the "Real World", but without the
possibility of showing up on some challenge or becoming a host of "The
View". How this plays out for Jennifer is anyones guess. I suspect we
shall never hear of her again, which is probably all for the better
for everyone. What I will miss is reading the newsgroup. Some of you
really made me laugh. Well, there is ana isn't there?

So goodbye to Jenni and alt.jennicam. Whatever screwups and problems
you have, we won't have to read or view it ever again.

I think it's kind of mean to keep beating up on Ana. She's just plain
pathetic these days.

It's kind of like pissing on an injured dog. Just ain't right.

Yep, Ana is the logical successor to the Jennicam "fortune". She's
been a Jennicam wannabe from day one. Of course one has to
wonder if there is anything worth discussing about ana or any other
cam girl these days. Really, who cares about them? They are
all so "Jennicam".

The word "Jennicam" will come to be used to describe anything
that tired, worn out and over the hill. Or maybe it will be used to
describe anyone who is completely self centered. Or perhaps
it will be used to describe anyone who can fuck up a free lunch.

Jenni was worried that one of you "assholes", as Dex calls anyone
who posts to A.F.J, would take the site name and put up a parody
site. Or worse yet, maybe NO ONE would and she'd have to admit
that no one really gives a damn about her.

I just became aware of Jennicam when I read the article that it was
shutting down after 7 years. I have been reading some posts of this
newsgroup just to get a little background, but I think that it's a
good thing that she can regain her anonymity, many celebrities that
fall off the public's grace go from celebrity to notoriety (think
Michael Jackson or Paul Reubens), and maybe she figures she'd quit
while she's still ahead.

I am glad she could get much more than her share of 15 minutes of fame
and live to tell the story. Furthermore, she has a good chance to
resume a normal (albeit boring) life.

Peace out and best of luck to Jenni,

V

Paul Reubens was a Jennicam subscriber. Michael Jackson was not.

Hardly anyone remembers her now. Imagine what it will be like
in 5 or 10 years. "Jenni what?" people will say. As to whether
she will ever had a "normal" life -- well she is "married" to Dex.

>Peace out and best of luck to Jenni,

The very least you could do, given that you've JUST discovered
Jenni, would be to send her a CASH donation. You owe it to her.
We've all sent Jenni money. You should too if you're posting here
Do it. Do it NOW. Don't be a cheap fuck. Send her at least $15
if not a brand new crisp $20 bill. You'll regret it all your life if you
fail to step up to the plate and be a man at this critical time in
Jenni's life. She needs that money. It's HER money in your
wallet anyway. You should be glad she let you keep it this long.
Jenni is waiting. Be a man. Don't keep a lady waiting.

Are you talking about Ana's art? "Pissing on an injured dog"
sounds like something she would photograph and sell.

i have to agree about picking on ana. i've heard lots of bad things
about her but i've never personally known her to do anything bad. she
just likes to create her art.
