This will be in the afternoon, possibly in parallel with another session.
The idea is to have an in-depth technical discussion, not necessarily
involving a large group.
If you are interested in this session, and haven't written to me
about it yet, please send me a note at bert...@eiffel.com indicating
if you just want to attend or intend to make a presentation.
For the registration and any other matter regarding the conference
please do as indicated in Jean-Marc Nerson's message.

Yes. What's wrong is your hypothesis that "nobody uses it." Obviously,
there have been nine Eiffel Users Conferences because a goodly number
of people do use it.
But don't take my word for it. Come to one of the conferences and see
for yourself!

If technical merit was related to usage, I doubt that most advances in programming
languages would ever be made. Conversely, Fortran, Cobol, Ada etc. etc. would have
lost their users to Algol 60, SIMULA, Modula 2 respectively or never have been
written. I don't USE Eiffel much, but I am glad it was invented to challenge the
tendency to design languages by accretion which seems to be all too common. If it has
survived seveeral years without large institutional backing, it most be doing
something worthwhile.
This year sees the 25th anniversary of SIMULA. SIMULA is proud of its vigorous
offspring, including Eiffel and the respect is mutual. Each has given something to
language design which would have been a loss if it had not been there.

One complaint that I do have is lack of Eiffel on Macintosh OS.

> there's something wrong.
A small clarification may be useful here. As Mr. Nagle so
competently points out, almost no one uses Eiffel; in fact
until recently there were only 9 users. But now a 10th
person just started, so we are holding a conference,
appropriately titled the TENTH EIFFEL USER conference,
to celebrate.
The new user is in Canada, hence the word ``international'';
this is like ``world'' in ``world series'' for baseball.
We hope this helps clarify the issue, and sincerely apologize
for any confusion the posting may have caused.
