Hard luck story contest - Finalists

but it took me a while to get this posted.
So, here are the two finalists!
First the runner up, a mr Julian Hayward. He presented a simple race
that includes a few important ingredients in a hard luck story.
It was an important match (the match before the prisemoney in a
tournament), a nasty sequence and a slight error by the opponent.

The first game is ~7250-1 +/- 50 . so over 50K to 1 in the match.
If the cube is dropped O is < 50-1 to win. ( this player made the
1/4 finals??? One toke over the line)
The second game. your 5-10 % to hit!. Then anywhere from 10-40% to win
My numbers are very approximate but surely you're between 1-5% to win
The Bg is somewhat bizarre. 1% to gethit by 5'-a six immediately. But
there are othe combo's to get atgged before getting hit. After getting
hit i can see variations where a 2nd man is sent back . Still a BG is a
long shot(they always are.
I,m sure the 2nd opponent took a more reasonable cube though.
Mr. Hayword wins, by losing, hands down.
These are inspiring stories. last night freewhelling Phil doubled the
field to Eight with 5 men on his ace to 4 on the opponents ace. When most
of the field beavered Phil's Box partner phreked and dropped them! This
was a new one,even in this choette(no we are not playing in an opium den).
Phil rolled aces of course and won 59 points.
This happened just before I arrived so that flan I had to have for desert
saved me considersbly.
The players will be most relieved to hear the stories of these 2 games
thanks.
P.S. Freewheeling Phil( double early double often) ended up losing 3 points>

I'd imagine the people sitting on the other side of the board from
these hard luck stories do. :-)
