SLASH-HACK
2/16/96

This is an extensive modification of Nethack 3.1.1 and Nethack Plus.

It incorporates the new classes from Nethack Plus and many new monsters,
items, and special levels.

I will release a more comprehensive list of changes in a week or two, as
well as the source code. For now, though, you're on your own!

In order to whet your appetites, though, here's a small sampling of what's
in store:

* graves & toilets
* the lairs of the kobolds, rats, orcs, a lost tomb, and Vecna
* dozens upon dozens of new monsters, many of which who do things never
done before (like the flame gaze of the pyrolisk)
* dozens of new items, like a wand of fireballs, and potions of polymorph

You can snag slash.zip from ftp.uwp.edu in pub/incoming/games/misc.

SLASH-Hack is compiled under Watcom C for MSDOS. Any 386 or better should
be able to run it, and it seems to work under windows, too.

Knock yourself out, and look out for those pesky rhaumbusuns!

Can you hell. I just went there and there is NO sign of a file called
slash.zip. I'm sorry if I seem a bit offensive, but I'm a bit pissed off
about this (I'm something of a collector of nethacks...).

Just looked again. There is no path /pub/incoming/games/misc on
ftp.uwp.edu. There is a path pub/incoming/games, but there is no misc
- or indeed anything else - that I could see. And no sign of slash.zip in
the msdos games directory. Could be that Tom posted it just before
they cleaned out /pub/incoming ...

Hey, another roguelike games collector :) I am currently up to 22
different variants of Nethack, Moria, Angband, and a few "odd" games like
Ragnarok, Rogue, URW, etc. You wouldn't happen to have NH-- 3.0 ? I have
been looking for it for ages, but it seems to have dissapeared from the
face of the earth... as has ordinary 3.0.

In article <4g80kd$8...@hermes.acs.unt.edu>,

Actually, if you wait a little, I've fixed a couple of bugs, and will
upload a new version and the source later today or tomorrow.

Also, I didn't include dos4gw.exe by accident, and some people are having
trouble without that in their directory.

Anyway, I'll name the exe slash2.zip and the source slashsrc.zip, and
I'll put in on ftp.uwp.edu in the pub/incoming/games/misc and wuarchive
in their pub/MSDOS_UPLOADS stuff. The second I upload 'em, I'll post here
too...

These new bugs are a direct result of my girlfriend's
ascension-in-progress (fingers crossed) of a Valkyrie. I never made it
that far before... :)

Sorry, I don't have NH 3.0 --. I have ordinary 3.0, which (last I saw)
was still available from the spoiler site (patchlevel j).

nethack 3.0 and all ten of its patches are still available from
comp.sources.games archive sites. 2.2 is there too, so I imagine 2.3
probably is as well. That's source code only, in multi-part "shar"
packages.

Hmm... I have a small collection of roguelike games and variants
myself, but the reason I'm posting is that I can't seem to find
SLASH-hack. I have looked in the /pub/incoming/games/misc directory
on uwp, as well as /pub/incoming/games/rpg, /pub/msdos/games/misc and
/pub/msdos/games/rpg. Has everybody else found it, or have they just
given up?

Same here. I've looked all over uwp and it just isn't there.
I wonder where the people who did get it are getting it.
If anybody finds it, please let me know where, I really want to
try it.
